Where? Dyche was on the market for a good while after burnely. Everton is a fantastic chance for him. West ham? Imo he won't get a better opportunity to show what he can do as the clubs like Newcastle will be out to get someone with a fancy name next.
That would be the final nail in the coffin of English football. Already supporters are clearly not a priority for the Leagues, but expecting people to shell out their hard-earned cash to support their heroes only to have the rug pulled from under them after the end of the season for financial irregularities is beyond the pale. (Unless it's city of course, in which case it's as funny as ****!)
Just to clear things up, if that's possible. The sanction relates to a payment made by Fulham to south London amateur side Balham Blazers following Fabio Carvalho's move to Liverpool. Fabio Carvalho, now 21, joined Fulham's academy from the Balham Blazers at the age of 13 in December 2015. Carvalho agreed to sign for Premier League club Liverpool in May 2022 for a reported fee of £5 million, potentially rising to £7.7 million with add-ons. The transfer became official on 1 July. Hence the problem because Fulham had won promotion and become a Premier League club. Under the terms of that move, his transfer to Liverpool in 2022 triggered a request from Balham for a payment. Balham Blazers are deemed too small by the Premier League to receive any agreed payment for the gifted teenager. Under Rule U.38, payments can be made only with the permission of the PL Board. Fulham, by now back in the top flight, A request from Fulham to make a payment was rejected, but a settlement agreement appears to have been reached anyway with Balham, which Fulham accepted was a breach. Fulham asked for an independent adjudicator but they found in favour of the Premier League, whereas the EFL had previously sanctioned the payment under their rules. Fulham will face a six-month ban (suspended for one year) from registering any academy players currently or previously registered with another club and will pay a £75,000 fine. The suspended registrations ban commenced on 15 April 2024.
That sounds like another example of the Premier League pissing all over the grass roots game if I've understood that correctly. Fulham have agreed a sell on fee with this junior side for Carvalho, which presumably is tiny in the grand scheme of things but not to Balham Blazers, and the PL have said they shouldn't have paid it? Would the payment have been OK if Fulham were in the Championship?
Yet another ridiculous reason for punishing a club. Fulham have clearly tried to maintain some morals here in supporting a grassroots club which developed the player from a young age! There is literally nothing wrong with that in any sense - why can't these morons at the PL ever exercise any sort of common sense?
Good on Fulham Premier league, an absolute disgrace. Thst club could get a dressing room or do pitch drainage or whatever. A once in a lifetime chance and denied by the prem? Shameful.
From what I've understood the EFL were happy with it to go ahead, but the PL have ruled against it as Balham Blazers are not defined by the rules as a 'Transferor Club' and the payment of any sums is not permitted under Rule U.38. There may be more to it than I know, but it sounds very officious. Further more taken From The Sun newspaper During the case, Fulham told the PL that they had a similar deal in place with Dartford FC after bringing Martial Godo to Craven Cottage from the Kent side in 2022. In it, Fulham agreed to pay Dartford if Godo, a winger currently on loan at League One Wigan, hit certain targets. But the PL has also refused the club permission to pay Dartford and they would be in breach of U38 if they did - triggering the six-month transfer ban if a payment was made in the next 12 months. The same regulations left Basingstoke Town feeling short-changed when Brody Peart, then 17, joined Premier League Brighton in 2023. Basingstoke, like Balham and Dartford, do not qualify as a “transferor club” so the Seagulls needed permission to pay compensation. But Brighton did not ask the PL to sanction any payment and so signed Peart without having to pay a penny.
I'm trying to understand how they might come to a decision like this but I'm truly baffled by it all. I mean, teams like Basingstoke are such a threat to the PL riches....
I presume its some jobsworth with a rule that says that club isn't on the list, how do I know you are not paying yourself cash for a corrupt reason or whatever.
Maybe time for Everton to look at alternative buyers ? Everton's prospective owners 777 Partners and the firm's co-owner Josh Wander have been accused of a "fraudulent scheme" by a lender in a civil court filing in New York. London-based Leadenhall Capital Partners LLP and Leadenhall Life Insurance Linked Investments Fund PLC claim Wander and 777 'pledged' over $350m (£279m) in assets as collateral for a credit facility agreement, but knew they "did not exist" or were "not actually owned by Wander’s entities". Leadenhall's 82-page filing, which was submitted on Friday as part of its civil claim, says it is seeking to recover "millions of dollars in damages from a house of cards on the brink of collapse". 777 Partners declined to comment when contacted by BBC Sport. The latest development casts further doubt over whether 777 can complete a protracted takeover of the Toffees after agreeing to buy Farhad Moshiri's 94% stake in the club last September. The Miami-based investment firm has held discussions with a private equity firm specialising in 'distressed debt' as it aims to seal a deal that it is yet to be ratified by the Premier League. The firm already owns stakes in European teams including Genoa, Sevilla, Hertha Berlin and Standard Liege, as well as Brazilian club Vasco da Gama. 777 has endured financial strife this week, eventually sending a delayed payment of £16m to Everton for day-to-day operational costs, and having an airline it owns enter voluntary administration. Meanwhile, 777's UK public relations advisers have stopped representing the company after saying the firm did not meet payments on fees and it remains to be seen whether they will re-engage. Leadenhall's US court filing stated: "Everton is the latest shiny object of Wander’s fraudulent scheme, solvency aside. "Upon information and belief, Wander and [co-owner Steven] Pasko are operating a giant shell game at best, and an outright Ponzi scheme at worst, that takes money in from investors and lenders and shuffles it around to various money-losing alter egos in the enterprise to disguise their true financial condition." BBC Sport contacted Wander separately on Saturday for comment is awaiting a response. Everton: Potential buyers 777 accused of fraud in court filing
If the premier league approve this sale they are criminally liable for the results. Above all things i think we all know Everton are already in effect insolvent and wanting for this sale but they will be bust if the sales goes through in any event. Surely if the banks can step in for lfc then then banks can step in and break moshiri and sell the club off to cover whatever debts there are rather than end up with Everton in the championship and bramley Moore owned by God knows who.
Yeah 777 isn’t happening, and I’m glad. The press are having a field day with this story tho haha, countdowns on administration a few weeks ago over a deadline that didn’t happen, and now again if this deal falls through. Moshiri said at a fan Q&A a few weeks ago that if needs be, he will carry on the payments till a new buyer is found.
Given he's already 200mil.in debt to 777 and 500mil in the role for the stadium while starting with 1.2 or so I think you will be needing some buyers. I really hope it works out. I expect them to struggle on past this season end then go boom.
How long would Moshiri be prepared to do that though? What if there's no other buyers in short or long term future?
Everton will be the next to be bought out by oil rich sports washers. New ready made stadium, big club with big potential.
I don't think it's a guarantee. West Ham were sat there with a stadium they pay a pittance for, in the capital, great location......the Saudis bought Newcastle instead.
Yeah but West ham have stable owners (I think? not heard any issues with them?) who probs arent interested in selling, given the stadium, location, etc...wouldnt take much to turn West ham into a major club and they know it, they'd drive a hard bargain in getting as much as they could. Everton are desperate and would take anything right now.
