There's a new kid on the block in the A league this year, with the addition of another team from Victoria joining the other ten members. Western United will play their home games at both South Geelong and Ballarat before they make a permanent move to Tarneit, a suburb of Melbourne about 25kms west of the CBD.

I'm going to the game tonight as it's a local derby against City. It's $20 to get in (about a tenner) so it'd be rude not to..

Bit of a culture shock for us ex-pats for how cheap it is to get into games isn’t it? I was going to go to Perth’s home game a couple of weeks back but couldn’t get there in the end. Tickets for that were about $30 which is about £15.

    Enjoy the game

I’ll say. It’s a shame the football isn’t up to much otherwise it’d be great value.
I’d never been to the ground at Geelong before so made the mistake of picking a seat behind the goal. It meant I was a short taxi ride from the side of the pitch. And the footie wasn’t all that, United couldn’t even beat ten men so I may stick to watching Victory at the Marvel and AAMI..

Perth Glory trying to sign Ibrahimovic on a 6 game deal so he can play here after leaving the MLS and he waits for the European transfer window to open :eeek:eeek

Yeah, I’m going to this, got a ticket for the away end as there will be freebies galore to entice new United fans. Be good to see Berisha score against his old club..

It's cheap for a lot of sports fixtures in Australia isn't it? The large Memberships and TV Deals would help i'd think.

So Victoria now has 3 A-League sides, Be a good weekend to do if you could see Victory/City/Western United on both.

Noticed Gary Hooper has signed for Wellington Phoenix.

Cracking local derby that, did he get awarded the equaliser, Fox Sports commentators weren’t sure.

It isn’t too bad. Paid $32 (£16 approx) for my ticket to Perth’s first T20 game of the season. Didn’t get to an AFL game this season so not sure on prices for that.

Concerts are different gravy. Paid $200 for Foo Fighters last year, $200 for Metallica although it was cancelled and U2 tickets are $200 as well

strangely the cost of a standing ticket for U2 in Melbourne have gone done from $200 to $131 so I’ve decided to go on the 15th. I was t going to bother but I love The Joshua Tree and I know I’d regret not going..

As for the game yesterday, the standard was shocking for the most part but a great comeback by United. It was nice seeing the Victory fans going home in a state of shock. Going to be a long ordinary season for them

As regards a suspenseful final 1/3rd of the game it was great to see WU hang on. Well done.

New season is three or four games in depending.on who you follow. Central Coast are the early pace setters while Melbourne Victory are showing signs of being ordinary again with one win and two losses from three. They did beat Perth last night though in a game that should have been a five or six goal difference.
Western United it would appear have moved to Geelong so I may start watching MV again..

Perth Glory signed Daniel Sturridge :eeek If, and it is a big if, he can stay fit he should do well in this league. Can see a few Liverpool fans in Perth turning up for games now.

A League starts today! I am off to watch Perth Glory v Adelaide Utd later. Apparently Sturridge is going to feature at some point. Can’t imagine he will play that much tonight though. He only came out of quarantine recently so I doubt his fitness will be where he would like. Tough start for Perth in the league though. Home game tonight then they go on the road for a month due to fecking COVID restriction here. They don’t return home till Christmas Eve :eeek:eeek

That aforementioned new kid on the block, Western United, beat Melbourne Victory 4-1 away yesterday to reach their first grand final since the club was established four years ago. It’s a giant leap for the west Melbourne team and they will play either Melbourne City or Adelaide in the final. The City game kicks off in under an hour and I’m about ten minutes out from the ground. It’ll be my first game in a while and I have to say I’m looking forward to it, should be a cracker as these two teams are quite evenly matched..

City won 2-1 yesterday. It went to ET and it needed a revamp of the formation to crack the Adelaide defence open when two wide men were introduced early in the second half. Before that I'd say the visitors from across SA were the better team. So now it's on to the all Melbourne Grand final next Saturday at AAMI park (City's home ground). Should be a cracker..
