Faliraki 1992 before it went OTT it was our first proper lads holiday me and my mates still talk about it now, filled my boots with birds from Nottingham,Glasgow & Lancaster...OOOh Happy Days Vietnam 2013 Thailand 2014... Vietnam knocks spots off Thailand any day of the week an amazing place and amazingly cheap...go before it gets like Thailand, speaking to an Ozzie out there and he said Vietnam is what Thailand was like abou 20+ years ago
Vietnam is more expensive than Thailand unless you go to the islands down south. The food in all but the south of Vietnam is shockingly bad and unless you like the history of the Indo-China war and the American feck up then there's not much to do outside the tourist traps of Halong bay and the Russian filled beaches just north of HCM. Having said that, I loved it there but we had a Vietnamese guide who through Skype was telling us all the best bits to go to..
I have just never had the desire to visit any Central/Eastern Asian countries. I guess the main reason is that I don't like Asian food, so I'm unsure how I'd survive there. I guess I could buy and pack some MRE's to hold me over while I'm there.
just got back from Madrid. very enjoyable. albeit the 2 main things were seeing real and athletico play. enjoyed a few other things as well. funny how many irish pubs there are all over the world and no English ones. I half agree. I wouldn't mind going hong kong or Singapore. maybe if i did an indian jones style tour guide holiday somewhere in a jungle that might appeal but like u there's many places in the world i'd go to before central/ east Asia.
I can't choose one... Maga 2013 - I went with a group of blokes from football and I was, at 24, considerably the youngest. Florida 2013 - I proposed to my now Wife Florida 2015 - my honeymoon!
I know two couples both back from Florida - one honeymoon and one proposal trip - all four were first time visitors and they are all already planning the next visit. It really is an awesome place.
What resort? Personally I think Epcot Resort Area is better than MK, and of the Epcot Resorts the Boardwalk is my favourite. We head back there (BWI) for two weeks next year. We are also trying Universal onsite for the first time.
Not sure where the investment would be, but with DVC you can stay in any resort as they are linked to points you buy. I stayed in Caribbean beach, for the ease of the transport etc I have to say I am more than pleased with the value for money a Disney Resort gives you. Going back in 2017 and that will probably be the last time without having kids of my own.
What resorts have you stayed in? We have only stayed in WL and BWI so far (we tried for BC/YC next year but they had no availability). The value resorts don't appeal at all, but some of the moderates look great, especially the price! With the Disney Springs opening, staying nearby looks tempting for a good selection of dining options i.e. Port Orleans, SSR, OKW, or even one of the partner hotels across the road.
My Honeymoon was the first time I'd stayed at a resort, her indoors wants to do AKL. I have done I-Drive and Villa's before now.
Florida. Went when I was 8. It was AMAZING! Normally don't re-visit the same place. But did with Florida, because my full family loved it that much.
Sorry don't agree with any of that find Viet Nam much cheaper overall and the food used to be poor but in the last 10 years is very good.Sapa , and The Mekong delta are great as is Hanoi!
I stayed on International Drive, I don't know if part of me loving it so much was because it was my first time in America. But it was Fantastic, I would try and persuade anyone to go, the Disneyworld as daft as it sounds, blows your mind. If you think any of our theme parks are good here, then you would be blown away by theirs. It is the little details that they put into it. Walking in through them gates after getting the ferry across to the park is crazy! My whole experience was just great. Everyone was so friendly - both times of me going. Yeah, I have been mocked before for saying how good it was, but I think that they think that the theme park is just like a theme park in England, as silly as it was, one of the rides I enjoyed the most at Disney was the Peter Pan ride I would always suggest to someone too go, it is just brilliant. Especially if you have a family. But to be fair I went again with my family and I was the youngest at 21! We still all loved it the same. Going to New York this year (May 2016), see how that compares!
Maybe I'm being biased towards Chiang Mai? Vietnamese cuisine doesn't come anywhere near the quality of the food here and in my experience it's cheaper. I've just looked on a price comparison website for the cheapest places to eat, drink and stay in SE Asia and their numbers are wildly inaccurate. There again, what do i know, I've only lived here for nigh on five years.
I'd have to say the first holiday with mrs eric to Cyprus or a fortnight in Corfu with the lads the year before.
I like Cyprus myself mate.. i like it that much i have considered buying property there, it's just crap they are in the middle of a financial breakdown atm.
Climbing and touring in southern France - Verdon Gorge, Buoux, Dentelles de Montmirail etc. With the family, a couple of weeks pottering about Denmark and Sweden. Beautiful beaches, friendly people, enough thrills and spills for the kids.
