It has to be Singapore. Got married there, absolutely loved the food and the people, despite it being a very crowded city.
Vietnam is head and shoulders above Thailand......sorry Got the overnight train to Chiangmai from Bangkok March last year Thought Chiangmai was very over rated and full of smog for the 3 days we were there due to the farmers burning crops,we didn't see the sun?
I loved Nepal, such a beautiful country with really kind people. I was devastated when I heard a earthquake hit them last year.
Bosnia 94 South Armagh 95 Kosovo 99 Afganistan 2001 Iraq 2003 Im not saying I want a medal or anything
Miami 2013 - did Ultra Music Festival and spring break. 2 weeks. Ace going there as a British lad... Sunny Beach 2011 - first lads holiday, dirt cheap (40p pints) and also watched England in Sofia. Miami/Fort Lauderdale 2015 - Ft Laud is my favourite city in the world, definitely want to move there. Such a good way of life. Honourable mentions to NYC Chicago etc.
To weigh in to the Vietnam vs Thailand debate... I went to both last year. Been to Thailand 4 times (although never to Chiang Mai for various reasons) and vietnam twice. At the risk of being offensive...I found the Vietnamese to be a bit more irritating and nowhere near as friendly as the Thais. I'd say that on the tourist trail at least Vietnam was cheaper. We were paying roughly £20 a night in Thailand for digs compared to a tenner in Vietnam. Food and drink wasn't too different but western food on the islands is relatively expensive. Food-wise personally I'd say Thai food knocks spots off anything else in the region although I do like Lok Lak in Cambodia. The islands in Thailand are beautiful if you can find the right spots. Avoid Haad Rin on Ko Pha Ngan if you're over 22 years old for example. Probably aboid the Phi Phi islands full stop. Would've loved to explore the north of Thailand but I came down very ill one time in Laos so flew back to bangkok rather than train it from Luang Prabang to Chiang Mai. Other times I've gone in July/August which I read and was told to completely avoid the north during those months as the rain is unbelievable. I'll probably never go now as I want to try different places.
The government is trying to put a stop to the pollution levels in the north of Thailand but they're fighting a losing battle because we've still got the Burmese and Laos farmers doing the slash and burn. I would advise everyone not to come to Chiang Mai in March when the air quality is to put it plainly, dangerous. The other eleven months of the year it's a fantastic place to be. Fo Shizzle, I don't know where you stay when you're out here but I never pay more than around £12 for digs and often find places for a fiver, but then I don't go for the air-con, ever..
Think it was the result of travelling with the missus who is particular about things like air-con and also booking in advance to avoid traipsing around in the 40degree heat bartering a few quid off the room.
My favourite would be when I went to New York with family, I thought the city was amazing, I'm dying for the day I go back, Also went Interrailing last year and really enjoyed Budapest, Krakow and Prague, I'd recommend them to anyone
