Apparently a judge has banned the game over Stadium Safety Grounds. I am convinced they build their stadiums with straw and sawdust because this is happening so regularly! And the WC is next bloody year!

Feel sorry for the fans who bought tickets to that match if it is off. Bit of a piss-take to leave the decision so late.

FIFA is hopeful that England's friendly against Brazil on Sunday will go ahead despite concerns over safety at the Maracana Stadium.

Reports on Thursday evening claimed that the friendly was in serious doubt and was the subject of a suspension order by a local judge.

The Rio de Janeiro state government soon confirmed its intention to appeal against the ruling and sources close to FIFA expect the high-profile match to be played.

    Possibly the biggest non-story ever.

All over twitter? Ain't twitter great for passing on information? Doesn't have to be accurate information.

I can see Walcott scoring in the Maracana.

Maybe even a hat-trick like Croatia away.

surely this game shud just be awarded to brazil by default. if brazil actually spiel anything like a full strength team England r in for a hammering.

for me it's a moral victory if england loss by 2 goals or less!

Ridiculous statement. Brazil are regular under-performers in their friendly games and England have every chance of getting a result, regardless of their piss poor performance against the Irish.

Have you forgotten that we have beaten them a few years ago?

We beat them three months ago.

But in Brazil it's a totally different story, I'd be very surprised if we weren't beaten.

ofcourse it was a tongue-in-cheek comment but i'm sorry if brazil r half-assed then (with home advantage) they will crucify us.

actually think about this: in the past 20 years how many times have we beat a 'top team' in a proper game. literally 2 occasions i can think of- germany in 01 and argentina in 02. the only reason we might get anything from this game is if we play a full strength team and brazil mess around with substutions.

    This game isn't remotely appealing.

    That is all.
