What do you mean? You said in another post that they already spent (very few) seasons in the Bundesliga. Or was it renamed like the Prem? EDIT: oh and massive Buli Drei fixtures are out this week! That's great!
It's Holstein's first ever season in the 1.Bundesliga but not their first season in the German top tier league (otherwise they couldn't be German Champion in 1912 ) The Bundesliga was founded in 1963 as a merger of the (then) 5 top tier leagues in Germany, the Oberligen (Nord, Süd, West, Südwest and Berlin. The top teams in the standings of all those Oberligen played in a final round for the German Championship until May 1963. From August 1963 there was only one top tier league, a united /federal league (hence the name Bundes as prefix). So it's Holstein Kiel's first ever season in the top tier 1.Bundesliga but they are also playing again in the top tier after 61 years btw: Here in post #3612, I welcomed both promoted clubs to the 1.BL back in May (quoted it for you, seems you missed it back then
I do need to pay more attention to what you write sometimes, I thought you meant St Pauli. Ich muss relesen!
DFB führt Kapitänsregelung in allen deutschen Spielklassen ein DFB adopts the "captain rule" for German football from Bundesliga to youth level. Good! No more "pack forming" in front of the referee, only the Captain is allowed to intervene, any other who does it gets a yellow. Was already good at the Euro (and one thing I always admired about Rugby).
Yes against FC Nantes in Austria (Training camp for HSV since a few years). Or what do you mean? Reunion with some old teammates for Robert Glatzel. Are there any left in the Cardiff lineup when Robert played there until 2021? btw: Actually he has made 98 appearances for HSV and scored 60 goals. Not a bad quote rate, I think. He just became joint best scorer of last season with 24 goals. edit: quote is german, it is rate in english
Cardiff and Nantes are not on very good terms. ‘Behind the scenes’ anyway. There’s not many left now from 2021. But Bobby G. will know the legendary Joe Ralls who has been with Cardiff since 11/12. BG’s form at HSV is discussed by Cardiff fans still from time to time - it was a very good move for him and it’s strange that he never really made an impact at Cardiff. It wasn’t lack of effort but our direct style at the time probably didn’t suit him.
https://www.youtube.com/@HSV @Riverside: FYI, the HSV test matches in Austria are shown live and free on HSV's youtube channel. Starts today at 3pm CEST (-1 hr in UK I think) against FC Nantes and tomorrow at 4pm (3pm UK) kick-off time against your club. Don't know, though, if it is available for watching in UK. seems that the match against Nantes is 4*30 mins. at least that's what they write at hsv.de Testspiel-Doppelpack live bei HSVtv
3-0 to The Bluebirds sounds a decent win. But can’t read anything into pre-season as often experimental line-ups and considering also HSV played the day before!
2.Bundesliga kicks off today, 8:30 CEST. Yeah, at last!! We met each other in the 2.Bundesliga only twice, in 2019/20 HSV got a 1-1 in Köln and won 1-0 in Hamburg. The other duels were of course 1.Bundesliga ones and here HSV also have the better record 36W-25D-33L. For today I have mixed feelings and would be very pleased if we could get a draw because of our actual injury list (Our striker, Bobby Glatzel, joint top scorer of 2.Bundesliga last season with 24 goals, is still not fit, also newly acquired striker Davie Selke (came on a free from Köln) not at 100% yet. Plus we have the painful loss of one of the best midfielder of 2.Bundesliga last season, Laszlo Benes (moved to 1.Bundesliga club Union Berlin). Anyway, I'm happy that the Buli is starting again. Can't wait for next weekend's home match against Hertha BSC. *************** Fun Facts 2.Bundesliga: With 1.FC Köln coming down from 1.BL and Preußen Münster going up from 3.Liga the 2.Bundesliga has now 9 of 16 founding members of the Bundesliga in its ranks! ( Hamburger SV, 1.FC Köln, Schalke 04, 1.FC Nürnberg, Eintracht Braunschweig, 1.FC Kaiserslautern, Karlsruher SC, Hertha BSC Berlin, Preußen Münster) . The other 7 are playing in 1.Bundesliga (4: Eintracht Frankfurt, VfB Stuttgart, Werder Bremen, Borussia Dortmund), 3.Liga (1.FC Saarbrücken, TSV1860 München), Regionalliga West (MSV Duisburg) With a crowd of 28.796 on average of all 9 matches per matchday last season the 2.Bundesliga has the most spectators of any 2nd tier league in the world (2nd is the english championship with more than 23.000 on average). Bundesliga in Reichweite? Wohin der Fan-Ansturm die 2. Bundesliga führen könnte In fact, only the top tier leagues 1.Bundesliga, Premier League, La Liga and Serie A have a higher season average than the 2.Bundesliga (and the gap to La Liga and Serie A can maybe this season even closed with another big crowd club, Köln, who generates approx 50.000 per match) edit: 1.Bundesliga starts in 3 weeks. 3.Liga also starts today with another Bundesliga founding members duel like the 2.Bundesliga: 1860 München vs 1.FC Saarbrücken!
Nice one @Dirk . I've put Bundesliga2 on my favourites list via flashscore so I can keep an eye on Hannover 96 & if Josh Knight gets a game & also that along with your City counterparts St.Pauli I think Mainz & Gladbach will be playing in this league next season , hope I'm wrong with Gladbach but they've been going backwards last couple of seasons .
And the Pokal 1st round is in a fortnight. Back to German groundhopping for me with Aachen/Kiel on the saturday & Saarbrucken/Nürnberg on the sunday. One of my favourite weekends of the season. Should be good.
Well HSV off to a flyer. That's it, it's their year! TSV lost at home to Saarbrucken in the opening game of the Drei. Not good.
Same old, same old. Win in the opening match of the season, now for the 5th time in a row. Yeah, but this time it's our year Electrifying atmosphere in the stadium, full house and 50.000 (minus the HSV fans) singing the FC Köln hymn "Mer stonn zu dir, FC Kölle" ("We stand by you, FC Köln) from the Cologne Band "De Höhner". Awesome, for me one of the best club hymns Here's a hommage of it from the WDR (West German Broadcast channel) Orchestra together with FC Fans: Gives me goose bumps every time! (hymn starts at 50 secs.) Saturday and sunday matches of 2.Bundesliga. I hope that Preußen Münster gets a good start away in Fürth in their comeback in the Bundesliga after so many years in the 3rd and 4th tier. That's really not good. Like my first sentence? Same old, same old? edit: WTF? Niclas Füllkrug from Borussia Dortmund to West Ham? Tbh I can't understand this. Yes, Borussia hired Guirassy from Stuttgart but to leave a Champions League Club for West Ham? Do they even play in Europe next season?
Good start for Hannover with a 2-0 win at home to Regensburg who I've never heard of with JK playing left side of a back 3 whereas at his old club his replacement is out for 6 weeks with a broken arm .
You've never heard of Regensburg? Shame on you Nah, not really, in football, though. Regensburg is more popular for its Dome and the choir of it, the "Regensburger Domspatzen" and the Walhalla (Valhalla) which is a few kilometres of Regensburg, the "Hall of Fame" of illustrious Germans over the Centuries. btw: Hamburg is also "Regens"burg because it's often raining here ( Regen=Rain) So "your" guy was already playing for 96? We're playing in 3 weeks in Hannover so I'll see "posh" things from him then?
Yet more Germanic history , nice one . I think JK has played plenty in pre season just I'm surprised he's made the starting X1 & even more surprised he's playing left of a 3 at the back although if he nodded in a 95th minute winner from a set piece v Hamburg in a few weeks it wouldn't surprise me .
