It was lashing down in Dortmund at the start of the match with the home team turning round a 0-2 deficit to win 4-2 with the help of some woeful goalkeeping for the 4th goal . The usual Friday night Bundesliga goalfest & next Friday sees Augsburg v Gladbach , a home banker !
Two really good goals. I haven't seen much of Leverkusen under Alonso so they're probably different in other games but they've been so anti football in this half
We should have our arses kicked for not winning that tbf, we were by far the best team, but if you don't take your chances. I have no doubt though, the title is coming back to Munich.
Felt a bit like the City / Arsenal game last week. Leverkusen warned by the referee after 8 minutes about their timewasting so they were happy to leave Munich with a point and nabbed a goal from a set piece. I thought that Bayern were good out of possession but a bit slow and predictable with it. Even the goal was a long range effort because they didn't really have an answer to Leverkusen's defending for most of the game. I'd struggle watching Leverkusen but like Arsenal last week, they got the result they wanted.
Bayern would have won if they didn't have to play against both the referee and Leverkusen. Every so called "50-50" decision, which should be "play-on" if it's actually 50-50, was given in Leverkusen's favour. Upamecano, our CB, was given an early yellow for a softer nudge than the one that Leverkusen, in coherence, later in the game should have conceded a penalty for a much more significant push on Musiala in the box. Those were only a few examples, but the entire game was full of rubbish from the referee in Leverkusen's favour. Just writing this, I remember Min-Jae intercepting a Leverkusen pass cleanly, yet being punished with a foul for nothing, and Kompany exploding in fury on the sideline. We were the better side, and unless the referees continue working against us, I don't see why we shouldn't beat them at the BayArena in the Rückrunde.
Normally Leverkusen plays way better but today they were 2nd in nearly every department and yet they managed to get a 1-1 draw and Xabi Alonso's unbeaten streak against Bayern still stands. It was one of the worst (if not the worst) match so far under Xabi. So not the norm but Bayern had a clear plan today so they couldn't perform their attacking style as usual Last season Bayern vs Bayer ended 2-2 in Munich and 3-0 for Bayer in Leverkusen Anyway, we also had other matches in the Bundesliga today....would you believe it? St.Pauli got their first win in the 1.Bundesliga since the Hamburg Derby 2011! 3-0 against Freiburg is respectable. RB Leipzig with a convincing 4-0 against Augsburg @NotsoPosh Gladbach won 1-0 in the 96th minute. Leverkusen style (but the match was a bad one from what I could see in the summary) ********* HSV today with a 2-2 against Paderborn. Unfortunately a late goal by Bobby Glatzel was (rightly) revoked by VAR (light contact with the upper arm before he shot). Anyway I'm satisfied with the result. Paderborn is something like our nemesis lately (against them we lost both matches last season )
Lacklustre game really. Quite negative stuff from Xabi from the kick-off but it worked as Leverkusen got a point from that trip. Not a difficult tactic, not interesting either given that Bayern were in a shoot-off-target kinda mood. Goal came from a mistake (Pavlovic to blame but Neuer could have put that ball out for a throw I felt) which is worrying for Bayern as they did concede from a set-piece (food for thought for Unai there ahead of Wednesday's CL tie) but Leverkusen shouldn't have conceded that equaliser 7 minutes later (very slow to close down Pavolovic but it takes nothing away from a superb Tor). It was a 0-0 opening half that just had 2 goals in it. Second half was a bit better from Bayern but not much. Felt Kane wasn't bothered at all (zero press on Hradecky) and Gnabry tried but really didn't do much apart from his woodwork double. Also agree that Zwayer gave Bayer most of the 50/50s. That caution on Dayot was extremely harsh!
Julian Nagelsmann announced the squad for the 2 Nations League matches (Oct.11th in Bosnia and Oct.14th against the Netherlands). Der DFB-Kader für die Oktober-Länderspiele: Tor: Oliver Baumann (TSG Hoffenheim), Janis Blaswich (RB Salzburg), Alexander Nübel (VfB Stuttgart) Abwehr: Waldemar Anton (Borussia Dortmund), Benjamin Henrichs (RB Leipzig), Joshua Kimmich (FC Bayern), Robin Koch (Eintracht Frankfurt), Maximilian Mittelstädt (VfB Stuttgart), David Raum (RB Leipzig), Antonio Rüdiger (Real Madrid), Nico Schlotterbeck (Borussia Dortmund), Jonathan Tah (Bayer 04 Leverkusen) Mittelfeld: Robert Andrich (Bayer 04 Leverkusen), Chris Führich (VfB Stuttgart), Pascal Groß (Borussia Dortmund), Jamal Musiala (FC Bayern), Aleksandar Pavlovic (FC Bayern), Angelo Stiller (VfB Stuttgart), Florian Wirtz (Bayer 04 Leverkusen) Angriff: Serge Gnabry (FC Bayern), Kai Havertz (FC Arsenal), Deniz Undav (VfB Stuttgart), Tim Kleindienst (Borussia Mönchengladbach) First time invitation for Gladbach's Tim Kleindienst (Niclas Füllkrug still out due to injury). A bit surprising is the nomination for the 3rd goalie. Janis Blaswich? Really? He seems to be under pressure at Salzburg (where he's on loan from RB Leipzig)? Anyway, I don't think he'll get a cap.
