IMG_6301.jpeg It might be a nicer one, but it’s still a tacky American baseball cap. A nil-nil home draw is the best that can be expected in these circumstances, Steffen Baumgart. (At least replace it with a stocking hat like the one here.) But there is no real hope for Union without your flattie.

How does everyone rate Kiel's chances of survival? Really great for this small club to playing in the top tier but they do have this type of Darmstadt/Fürth profile that makes me feel they'll have a solitary season in the sun but that's about it. I may be wrong though. Haven't really been watching the Buli that much this season for some reason.

Still intact, although it will be hard to avoid the relegation. Imo, they're going down after their 1st season in the top tier and the other promoted club, St.Pauli, will stay. Although they only got a 1-1 today at the MIllerntor against Augsburg but they were the way better team and should've won it.

St.Pauli only conceded 21 goals so far in 20 matches (only Bayern conceded fewer (19), although today they got 3 from the 2nd worst team Kiel)

    **********************

I just watched the 2.Bundesliga Saturday evening match

    Schalke 04 vs 1.FC Magdeburg 2-5 :eeek
Another impressive away performance of FCM. It's their third 5-2 away win in a row now!

The 6000 away fans from Magdeburg among the sellout 61.000plus were singing "Auf Wiedersehen" to the leaving Schalke fans from the 80th minute on

If only they could win their home matches ;).

    Away record: 11 matches : 9 Wins - 1 Draw - 1 Loss (1-3 against HSV :D) , 32-15 Goals
    Home record: 9 matches : 0 Wins - 7 Draw - 2 Loss , 9-17 Goals !

They're by far the best away team in 2.Bundesliga (28 pts, next is Düsseldorf with 20) but they're also the worst home team!

And their 28 away points are the best ever record in the 2.Bundesliga after 20 matches!

For those who may be interested: Today and tomorrow we'll have the first 2 matches of the DFB Quarterfinal:

Both matches will be shown live in German Free TV.

Stuttgart vs Augsburg aka Swabians vs Bavarian Swabians. Normally I'd say that it's a clear home win for VfB but after the recent results I'm not so sure about it anymore.
Tomorrow Bayer vs Köln. As strong as the "Geißböcke" are actually (leading the 2.Bundesliga) I don't think they have a chance against Wizard Wirtz and his gang. ;) But it's a Cup match....

Davies signs a new deal until 2030, great news for Bayern.

Koln went 2 up v Bayer but been pegged back late on.

Be gutting for them if they end up losing.

Köln played very well but it wasn't enough to beat Leverkusen. 2-3 in extra time after being ahead 2-0 but then another beautiful action from Wirtz who passed the ball to Schick and it was 1-2 and then they did their "usual voodoo" with the 2-2 equalizer by Schick in stoppage time in the 96th minute and later the 3-2 by Boniface in extra time. Köln scored another goal in the 112th minute but it was millimetres offside.

Both cities are only a few kilometres apart and the fans can't stand each other. Leverkusen fans with some creative banners e.g "Goatbusters" banner, a banter for Köln who are nicknamed the "Billy Goats" :D

Real shame for Köln. Leverkusen up to their usual tricks of scoring very late but more painful to go out in that manner against your rivals.

It would have been nice for Leverkusen to go out and give someone else a chance of a trophy.

yeah, how dare they :D Very "Bayern Munich" esque (but they, at least, let someone else win the Championship last year ;) )

    Leverkusen, though:

With Xabi Alonso as Coach, Bayer Leverkusen hasn't yet lost a DFB Cup match!!
