What’s the deal with a Bremen brewery manufacturing St Pauli Girl when that name is more famously associated with Hamburg ?
Takes me back to drifting away from the Reeperbahn and ending up in an empty bar , all quiet then loads of lads just stood outside looking a bit pissed off, landlord told us wait here, police came gave us escort back and told us theyll leave us alone as long as stay in Reeperbahn, great weekend in Hamburg for a Keegan inspired friendly in 2002, went back in 2007 just for a non football weekend
tbh I never heard of "St.Pauli Girl" Beer before. Not that I know all the German beers, estimates say there are over 5,000 different beers in Germany, but the word "Girl" after St. Pauli made me suspect it might be an export beer, for example, for the American market. And Wikipedia confirmed it... St. Pauli Girl - Wikipedia I read here that the (original) St.Pauli brewery is near the (former) St.Paul's (without "i") friary in Bremen. That's where the name comes from apparently, not the Hamburg district Drifting away from the Reeperbahn? Nice description
I quite like Hamburg but the Reeperbahn is a tacky tourist trap, a shithole, just like the Oktoberfest in Munich
If this tournament ends up as forgettable as some have opined in this forum, then an excellent trivia question in 10 years time will be: Where did 17-year Bayern star Thomas Müller play his final match for the club? How many Germans (how many Bavarians?) will have any clue?
I've already forgotten where it was . But I think his last match for Bayern will be more remembered here for what has happened. Like: "Wasn't that the game where a 100 kg block fell on Musiala's leg and broke his fibula?" Not officially, yet. As far as I know he'd still like to play if the right offer comes, but he certainly won't be playing for another German club, so maybe as I suggested a club in the MLS. He could learn a second language, after bairisch
