No matter if the defender is desperate and fouls the attacking player, consciously or not, he's doing him a favour then when this foul leads to a penalty btw: I'm writing favour instead of favor as you write it, because I learnt it in school to write it this way, Oxford English (something I still remember after over 40 years out of school but most is forgotten ) Also colour or humour (although the German word is actually Humor without u but that's maybe because "Germans don't have humour" ). Or as Ricky Gervais told Karl Pilkington in Learn English with Ricky Gervais "Always speak proper English" (funny clip btw available on youtube) but according to this the attacking player who forces the defender to a hand play should also get an assist when the hand play leads to a penalty? Anyway, this is useless to discuss further because such a stat (assist for a penalty) won't be introduced (and also shouldn't be imo, but that's only my personal opinion) So, let's agree to disagree here and better discuss actual Bundesliga/German Football related things here.
Reality check I reckon. Don't think we quite there yet to be title chasers. I'd settle for top 4 as long as it gives a long-overdue Pokal appearance next August.
He does tend to win a lot of the penalties he then scores. He's been a bit wasteful tonight. Currently on 99 goals in 103.5 games. Ronaldo scored 100 in 105 for Real Madrid and Haaland scored 100 in 105 for Manchester City which is the quickest anyone has reached 100 goals in the top leagues. If Kane can score another he'll make history.
Figured I'd reply here for the German speakers This is the one thing I really want to see more of from him. There was one video Bayern released in the summer where they showed him learning German and he did have some knowledge (quite basic though) but he otherwise does all his interviews in English. I get that it's probably terrifying speaking to the media in another language but I would like to see him share more in German rather than always English. That said, I guess because it was the Oktoberfest game yesterday meant that Bayern were posting in Bayern dialect (Boarisch? ) and that really threw me off. My German is pretty good but that's another language entirely Also this was the video I meant, it's pretty basic but the only time I can recall seeing him speak German:
Wow, cool, that "Deutsch-Unterricht". Shows that he really wants to improve his German (many players can't even speak German after years in Germany, especially Asians. Maybe they think, hey, it's not needed because nearly everybody in Germany understands at least English or they think it's not needed because they leave Germany for playing in another country, idk). But great from Harry that he's even showing commitment in learning proper German (and I mean German here not Boarisch (comes from Boar- Wildschwein in German) ) Absolutely.Terrible accent it is, although I understand it all (Spuidog is not a special dog breed but "Spieltag" (Matchday) ). But the worst German accents for me are Schwäbisch (Swabian) and Sächsisch (Saxon). The cutest for me are of course North German accent (Hamburgisch/Norddeutsch) and Berlinerisch (Berlin Accent) That he's so eager to learn German makes him even more likeable to me (although he's playing for Bayern ) btw: Here's the terrible "Skechers" Advert: They totally exaggerated here Harry's dubbed German. As I already wrote in the other thread he's speaking here as if he's a native speaker born here and not some Englishman who is just 2 years in Germany
Harry Kane is the English Gerd Müller - 100 goals in 104 games. Cristiano Ronaldo and Haaland records are broken - what a goal machine, and terrific passer as well. He's very good at holding the ball under pressure and maintaining possession too. He might just edge it in comparison to Lewandowski, but he's got to continue like this, but luckily there's no hint of him stopping any time soon. Gladbach are getting hammered at home by Eintracht Frankfurt - currently 0:6 down with half an hour left to play!
Final score, Gladbach 4:6 Eintracht Frankfurt. I'm not having the media's nonsense of promoting this as entertaining. That was nothing but evidence of idiotic defending on both sides, and the result is an absolute disgrace to the Bundesliga. This type of scoreline should only be seen at schools, and the Germans will never win the World Cup again, as long as this nonsense is accepted and even promoted as entertaining. This is just watering down the worth of each individual goal. Getting back to Harry, he's absolute world class but he can only beat who he's facing, and the truth is that achieving 20 goals per season in the Premiere League is equivalent to achieving 30 goals per season in the Bundesliga - the place where piss poor defending is being sold as good football.
And another "reality check" for the Löwen. 0-2 loss at Aue. Seems that a "Wiesn Spuidog" isn't for Blue Munich only for Red Munich , 2nd loss in a row during the Oktoberfest. ************* In 2.Bundesliga Düsseldorf's Coach Daniel Thioune seems safe after Fortuna won 1-0 in Bochum (who lost 5 in a row now and are now second to last with only 3pts from 7 matches (same for the last, Magdeburg). Darmstadt and Elversberg on #1 and #2. Schalke #3 ************** In 1.Bundesliga Dortmund still unbeaten this season, this time 2-0 win in Mainz. Leverkusen won 2-1 at St.Pauli. Pauli had enough chances, though, to get at least a point. RB Leipzig suddenly at #3 after the 1-0 away win in Wolfsburg. Seems they're back on track this season (don't have European matches this season and can concentrate on Bundesliga) HSV today in the last match at 19:30 (or 7:30pm CEST for you) in Berlin against Union. Ex HSV coach Steffen Baumgart suspended for the match after his red card in the last match in Frankfurt where he showed the middlefinger
Glöckner & Werner were sacked following that defeat. Reserve-team coach Kayabunar takes the helm for the time being. Logisch.
Typical reaction, unfortunately! Losing 2 in a row, sack the coach Anyway, still early in the season. Actually only 3 pts to 3rd spot (but already 11 to league high-flyer MSV Duisburg who look like they could make a back to back promotion from Regionalliga to 2.Bundesliga (just like Elversberg and Ulm did in recent years). Union Berlin vs HSV 0-0 "Mühsam ernährt sich das Eichhörnchen" is a saying here in German (looked it up and it seems that you'd say "Little by little, the bird builds its nest." (although Eichhörnchen means Squirrel ) HSV was the better team, had more chances and way more ball posession (66%-34%) than the home team. But again failed to score (for the 4 time in 5 matches). That's a serious matter now, we can't afford to waste our chances like that. Anyway, it was the first time this season that HSV showed that they're capable to stay in the league. Big improvement in the defence (although we had again rely to our goalie Daniel Heuer Fernandez who saved a penalty after just 9 mins). Just 18yr old Luka Vuskovic was very good. Thx Spurs for giving him the opportunity to play here. And also thx to Arsenal for Fabio Viera,it is a joy to watch him playing. Unfortunately, though, he made a stupid attempt to get the ball in stoppage time (90+8 min!) and hit the opponent player. Referee sent him off with a clear red. So he will be out for at least the next 2 matches *********************** Article about Jürgen Klopp and his "new role": Klopp: "Die Deutschen lieben Red Bull - aber nicht im Fußball" ("Klopp: The Germans love Red Bull - but not in football" (btw: I don't like Red Bull as a soft drink, either ) Again, he told in the interview that he won't come back as a coach. edit: 2 posts merged, as usual
Friday results: 1.Bundesliga: Hoffenheim vs Köln 0-1 2.Bundesliga: Düsseldorf vs Nürnberg 2-3 Braunschweig vs Paderborn 1-2 3.Liga: Duisburg vs Rostock 2-2 So, only away wins in the two Bundesligen. Köln with a great start into the season (3W-1D-2L) for a promoted club. Jumped at #4 for the night. In the 2nd tier a very important away win for the Club and Miro Klose. If they had lost again then I'm sure he'd be sacked, so he's "off the hook" at least for now. Paderborn jumps at the top for the night. Braunschweig's downfall continues unfortunately after the good start into the season In 3.Liga newly promoted MSV Duisburg still unbeaten after 10 matches (7W-3D-0L) and still at #1
After Frankfurt conceded 4 goals against Gladbach in a single half last weekend, then got ridiculed at Atletico Madrid 5:1, Bayern should hammer Frankfurt. I'm not sure what the problem has been at their park in recent years.
Next record, Harry Kane is the first person to score more than 10 goals (11) within the first 6 games - English Gerd Müller! Bayern look like winning the first 6 games, but it's not certain yet.
Kane’s goal today was the most remarkably accurate shot. I think the keeper would have stopped anything on the ground except for a one foot wide area inside his right post. Yet Harry aimed, hit that very spot, from some distance away, and with impressive velocity. And it did not look like luck.
