Wait? No penalty in a Bayern match? Is that even allowed? Bayern seems unbeatable, at least in the Bundesliga. Yes, Dortmund hasn't lost, either, so far but they're already 4 pts behind.....after just 6 matches. I know, still 28 matches to play but I have little hope that this will be a fight at the top. At least the 2.Bundesliga is exciting as always at the top. HSV today at 17:30 (5:30 pm) at the Volkspark against Mainz, who are even behind us in the standings (not that this means a lot atm, at least not in these regions of the standings). Mainz has played Thursday in the ECL, so maybe they're not rested (I doubt it, though) St.Pauli lost yesterday 0-1 in Bremen. So with a win we could overtake the Brownies in the standings. If that's not a motivation for HSV then I don't know one
They were close! Harry would have had another one but he was offside before the foul that injured him.
Boriing at the top of the Buli as usual but our game vs Bayern in early November is going to be epic! Really looking forward to that one already. What's your take on the promotion chasers in the Zwei, D? Elversberg are the only side seperating Schalke from top spot. They just dicked Magdeburg 4-0 in Ost-Deutschland (tbf, Magdeburg usually loses at home), reckon they have what it takes to finally make it (remember, they were on the receiving end of the play-off defeat last May)? Darmstadt & Paderborn are also up there... Also, Bochum are 2nd bottom which is always nice to see.
SG Nordstadt Hildesheim reunion yesterday 25 years after we won the league, these are also the guys who played against HSV in 1997. Me second from left :
@Dirk 4:0 to HSV, congratulations! I admit I didn't expect a single victory of HSV by this margin this season. Were you at the stadium, and what the heck is going on?
Yes, that's exactly what I thought. That shot was phenomenal. No chance for the keeper - one of the few he'd fear precision of from that kind of distance.
1:1 translate of "Same old, same old" into German We say it in German like: "Immer das Gleiche(if it's similar) /Dasselbe(if it is really the same)" or "Das Gleiche wie immer" Me neither, tbh. Can't remember the last time we won with a 4 or more goals margin in the Bundesliga and when HSV scored the most goals in a matchday. edit: Just looked it up: In the season 2013/14 we won 4-0 against Braunschweig and even 5-0 away in Nürnberg. So, it's quite a long time ago we did that in the Bundesliga. Yes, Season-ticket. Can't remember the last time I missed a home match. What do you mean? Shouldn't it be normal that the (once) mighty HSV wins convincingly? Nah, serious, after the disastrous pre-season and the first 3 matches in the Bundesliga I already feared the worst. But since the Bayern match, we won 2 and draw 1 and only conceded 1 goal in 3 matches, already the 3rd (of 6) matches where we didn't concede a goal. In the preseason HSV really changed its playing style because with what we've played in the 2.Bundesliga we wouldn't survive in the top tier and this change takes time but slowly it shows success. Apart from the Bayern match our Defence is more solid now than in all 7 seasons in the 2.Bundesliga. Thx to mega-talent Luka Vuskovic, unbelievable that this guy is just 18 years. Having seen him now in his 2 home matches I can understand why some experts are naming him one of the biggest defensive talents in Europe. Would be great to see him once playing alongside his brother Mario (after his ban is suspended end of 2026) but that's an illusion. If he plays like this for the season he's back at Spurs after the season. Anyway, thx at Spurs for letting him play here. HSV now at 9th spot, ahead of our city rival and also Werder. "Europa, wir kommen!" (seriously: I'm glad we can go with a good feeling into the international break. After it, we are away at RB Leipzig, who are also on a good run now and where we never get a result. But for now I'm happy and looking at the standings )
That’s the problem with loans, isn’t? The better your rental works, the likelier it’s pulled away from you. As for older brother, apparently HSV officials believe in his innocence on the doping charge? (Otherwise why would they have re-signed him for November 2026?) This pic from May 2024 shows HSV players’ take. Do players and fans *now* still believe Mario Vušković is innocent?
Some irregularites in the whole affair. Experts came to other results but they weren't heard. Anyway, it is what it is now, we have to accept the verdict and wait until the ban is suspended in November 2026. Here's an article from the HSV website from August last year (in english): Source / HSV.de: “Mario is and will remain a member of our HSV family”
Such a sad, tragic saga. What an age to be banned. Hope he does well when he returns, “only” a bit more than a year from now.
Friday results in the 2 Bundesligen: 1.BL: Union Berlin vs Gladbach 3-1 Sacking the coach isn't always a change for the better, it seems. Gladbach's downfall still continues. Last place actually. Only 3 pts from 7 matches. Looks grim for the "Fohlen" 2.BL: Hannover 96 vs Schalke 04 0-3 Fortuna Düsseldorf vs Eintracht Braunschweig 1-2 The 2 Lower Saxonian teams with different outcomes. 96 losing at home to Schalke, who are now at the top of the standings (at least until Sunday when Elversberg plays at home against Fürth). Eintracht, though, with a very important away win in Düsseldorf (expecting Fortuna Coach Daniel Thioune to be sacked now) Live evening match on tv will be Bochum vs Hertha. Bochum with new coach Uwe Rösler will try to break out of the relegation zone. *********** Saturday top match in the Bundesliga is, of course, #1 vs #2 Bayern vs BVB. Would be nice if BVB gets something here but I highly doubt it. HSV today away in Leipzig. I'm not holding my breath here. I don't expect much. Since RB is playing the Bundesliga(2016/17) we have played only 4 times against them. We lost our 2 home matches but in Leipzig we won and draw. Last match was in 2018. Would be great to get a draw but Leipzig is actually in good shape so I wouldn't be overly surprised if we don't get anything out of Saxony
Say Dirk, came across this on Twitter this week: Now I don't usually pay much attention to those rankings but this one looks fairly accurate even if flaws can be found of course. BvB/S04 is the biggest rivalry in the country in my humble opinion and the Hamburg derby ranked 37th sounds about right (would have it higher but hey ho). However, surprised to see that FCB/VfB (ranked 54th) is a thing! Do you agree that there's animosity between the two clubs. Stuttgart dislike Bayern yes but no more than any other club I reckon. And Bayern doesn't care what anybody else thinks (that's what makes them big and so dislikeable).
Absolutely. Way bigger than the so-called "Klassiker" between Bayern and BVB (which isn't even listed above as I see) 37th is ok imo. It's worldwide listed here I see. You have to remember that this Derby wasn't played for a long time because both clubs played in different leagues for decades. Why isn't the "Nordderby" HSV vs Werder mentioned? It's a bigger rivalry with Werder than with St.Pauli (at least from HSV side) They called it Südderby (southern derby) because both clubs are the biggest in the south. Tbh I don't know if it's still a big thing "down under" below the "Weißwurst-Zone". ps: That's not the official St.Pauli logo
Missed the game today but it sounds like Kane produced one of his greatest performances out of the bag today. Bored scoring every week so decided to sit in midfield and just run the game instead. Freak. Honestly, I've watched more of Kane than most but I think he's as good as I've seen him this season. It's absurd to think he's getting better at 32.
So, as expected, Bayern wins and Dortmund lose its first league match of the season. Yawn Unfortunately, also as expected, HSV lost in Leipzig 1-2. But another step forward imo that shows that HSV is more than capable to stay in the league. With a bit more luck we could've reached more. Anyway, no shame to lose in Leipzig (who are now 2nd in the standings). I've just read a stat that, since Leipzig is in the Bundesliga (since 2016/17), they have never lost against a promoted team (37 matches : 32 Wins- 5 Draws so far) which is unique in Bundesliga history.
According to this article, he believes he is peaking at age 32: Harry Kane Given New Nickname at Bayern Munich Amid Ballon d’Or Talk And yes, at least those in Deutschland must start referring to him with his new nickname: Hat Trick Harry. It’s the law.
For once the game was more entertaining than the usual rout. Bayern were better than BvB first half but the yellows came back strong in the 2nd. Dortmund defended rather well I felt against Diaz & Olise which makes it a shame they conceded the opening goal from a set-piece AGAIN. Olise put Bayern 2 up late on but BvB pulled one back. Wasn't a classic or anything but much easier to watch than the usual 5-0 we get served season in season out. In the Drei, Sechzig won their 1st game under the manager beating the unbeaten league leaders Duisburg. Gut!
