He decided in training to take Akinde off penalty duties and that's the result

Dodds might be knacked, they made a point of stating Freeman is eligible for tomorrow, guess we'll see.

Hmmm. Summat going on with him. Was out of football before he signed for us. Was anonymous when he did play and then went missing for 4 months.

Think there may be personal issues there somewhere

He’s been doing the PFA preseason camps this summer to keep fitness up. Hopefully he’s passed any issues he had last season and should be good to go from a fitness stand point. I’m starting to grow concerned that a lot of our defensive options will be beaten by the smallest ounce of pace this season though.

I really hope he is up for it. If he is that's an unreal signing.

    Oof, yeah, nice.

People always warn against the experienced EFL lads a bit, but if their fitness is right and mentality is right, then you've just got a player that's levels above.

You can usually tell from what their recent clubs' fans say.

For us, we were excited about signing Kieron Freeman last year, but Pompey fans warned both his legs and head had gone, and he played about 9 games.

Another example is Tom Conlon, who Port Vale fans loved, but said he wasn't the same player after a bad summer injury. And he looked well short of what we expected, but after a proper preseason he now looks great and is captain.

Then you just get some where the fans say "How have you got him?!" like Naylor for Chesterfield last season, Monthe for us, and I expect Moncur for you.

Potentially a fantastic signing if his head is screwed on.

Another interesting one! I believe we were looking at him and Joe Garner last season, and we ended up plumping for Garner despite his age (now 36) to be a bit of an example to the rest of the squad.

Madine of course has a well earned reputation off the field, but his ability is without question.

Absolutely, he used to be a real handful in the 2nd and 3rd tiers.

Hopefully he's got his shit together and is just desperate to get back playing.

Usual signing fluff but he had other options, cards are in our favour a bit here I reckon, still banned from driving and obviously local to the area, sounds like he's not quite ready to start games yet but much needed competition/help for Dieseruvwe.

If he's back in Birtley, dead easy bus routes to our training ground. He could get a book of 10 tickets for 20 quid. Deal clincher.
