Reid is one of those players you have to play to his strengths. He has to be the main man where you play it into him how he wants it. He's not a grafter, who will dig you out when the chips are down, and he won't cover the most miles on the pitch, but he is someone who will score you goals if you tick all the boxes for him. Put simply, if he knows he's the main man and on the team sheet every week he will be fine and do well for you, but he won't like competing for a place in the team if you have 3 or 4 to choose from. Probably the poster boy for all that was wrong at latics under unsworth. Someone signed because we were flexing our muscles in the NL but without any real clue how to use him effectively. 1st man out the door when mellon got to grips with the squad. Nothing against him personally, but his departure from boundary park has been coming for 18 months if not longer
I think he ticks them boxes you talk about. We don't have a huge budget (although looks more competitive than we thought) and him and Johnson are likely our main men up top in a two. The back ups will likely be a loan or one of the cheap trialists we have plus any academy lads (Foreman) so he will know that if fit he will play every week. I don't think Grayson is the tiki taka kind so we'll look to find him quickly or hit in channels for him or wingers to run onto. He will be as important as Mani D was and if he hits the ground running he will quickly build a good relationship with the fans. He's always been accused of doing it for the tinpotters but not much for clubs with higher expectations so it will be interesting how he handles the next step here. Overall, as good a replacement as we could hope for so credit to the club for bringing him in.
Looks a great signing on paper, good age with lots of experience in the league above. 3 year contract is a statement as well.
He's definitley not 6 foot 4. I found Reid incredibly frustarting when he was with us in the NL. Missed more than he scored and definitley had issues with confidence in front of goal. He seems to excel at the more smaller clubs he's been at in the NL. Hopefully he bucks that trend and does well for Hartlepool.
Pools sign Besart Topallaj on loan from Bromley with an option to make it permanent in January. Last seen at Sutton @Jared_SUFC thoughts?
If he suits your style, and club ethos, as well as ticking the boxes i mentioned you could be onto a winner. He fit at wealdstone. Hope it works out for him at hartlepool and we see you back in the league some time soon
There is an ever-growing feeling among our fans - and some ex-players - that Mark Cooper really is the problem at our club. The number of players who have left in the last year only to sign for other clubs in the West Country is concerning.
Can be decent, but perhaps lacks consistency. I liked him, but he was a bit anonymous by the end of last season. Could do a good job at this level
It's been known from the start that the feeling is mutual. We're all just frustrated that the football under Cooper is stifling and defensive. He doesn't come across well in interviews, he has little support from our fanbase.
Almost certainly the worst signing in recent years for Sutton. Signed carrying a knock at the end of the summer transfer window in 2022. Took 2 months to get fit. Went off injured after 15 minutes of his delayed debut. Was in the squad two more times leaving in the January transfer window.
Tyler Cordner joins afc totton on loan for the season. That's him gone as he's out of contract next summer thank god
When he finished his loans spell with us and went to Weymouth, we were genuinely disappointed, he had been really good with us.
