Looking forward to watching Macca and Co against Canada later. That's if I don't hit the land of nod prior to it starting that is
We norteamericanos got to dream for a little more than 22 minutes, then. City’s Alvarez cut through the Canadian defenders like buttah.
Wow. Decent chances for Canada in the 89th and 90th minutes, but no dice. Still 2-zip. The forward duo of Alvarez and Messi, both tallying, prove too much. Argies don’t really use or need Lautaro, inserted in the 77th minute for a cap. Still, good showing, Canada. Now get ready for hockey pre-season.
Had this same Argentina team not experience their 2021 and 2022 success I'd imagine they would've not made it out the group stage. Getting that monkey off their back has allowed them to play without pressure and are winning games/making finals without having to even get out of 1st gear. They've been poor all tournament.
They’ve had an absurdly easy draw tbf. I wouldn’t be shocked if Colombia won by a couple if that was the final
Even Canada had it easy other than the Argentina matches. Venezuela was not the Real Thing. Had the organizers taken form into account, they might have swapped group places between Mexico and {Colombia or Brazil} to make these halves more even.
All you Palace fans staying up late really enjoyed (and hated) how that half ended! (One of your guys scores for the 1-0 Colombia lead, and your other guy gets a second yellow!) Up a man and with the bulk of 2nd half possession, Uruguay cannot equalize despite great chances from the Inter Miami*, Real Madrid, and Flamengo stars. (And as things opened up, Colombia failed on hugely glorious chances at 87’ and 94’.) Onward Colombia. Stay off the yellows and win this thing on Sunday. * oh yes. And don’t bite anyone!
Fully expecting Colombia to win the whole thing as I forgot to put a tenner on them at the start. Palace lads have done well for them even with the red card tonight.
Some are saying that Columbia fans attacked families of Uruguay players causing the players to react. Darwin takes one right in the face.
US stadiums barely have any security, certainly not trained for this sort of thing. They've got the world cup next, hopefully it will be so hot no-one will want to fight lol.
Entertaining and appalling at the same time. Reverse pitch invasion. If it's true the families were attacked, I can understand the reaction. I can smell a 6-8 month ban for Darwin (scapegoat, especially with the World Cup in 2026). Argentina v Colombia will be a good match.
fair play to Nunez and the players! They had no choice but to get involved by the sounds of it This happened to West Ham a couple of years ago in Holland in the conference league semi. The players jumped in to the stands to protect their family. 1 particular West Ham fan (a big fella in his 50s) stood at the top of the stairs between the 2 sets of fans battering any Dutch that tried to get past him. And it worked they shit their pants! Typical behaviour, football hooligans are generally cowards! That fella is a legend of the club now
he won’t get banned if his family was at risk! No west fans or players faced sanctions after the AZ alkmaar game a couple of years ago. It wasn’t even suggested because everyone could see what had/was happening
Trying to yeet a chair at opposition fans is not the same as the West Ham fan doing his best you shall not pass impression.
He lost it because his family was in the crowd with the crazy Columbians. If your family was in possible danger let's see what you would do.
i don’t know the full details but if his family was in the area that was being attacked by the opposing fans, then I don’t think he’ll have an issue
