Great win, and we looked more balanced with an out and out striker plus a proper defensive midfielder in there rather than a team full of square pegs in round holes. One of the Spaniards went in with a jumping two footed tackle on Livramento right at the end. Cresswell reacted to it and everyone piled in. I think the Spaniard was sent off. The Spanish always seem to throw their toys out of the pram when they lose.
Fair play to the boys . Watched 1st half of Inter v Urawa & then Under 21's on Ch4 +1 & a very impressive performance even resting some players for the semi's . Special mention to Jay Stansfield for his work rate off the ball , some people think all that strikers should do is score goals , unless they're team players , Jeremy's lad in goal who was excellent , Morton who remained composed even though was carrying a yellow & player in this squad who gets my bum of the sofa , Norton-Cuffy , why doesn't he start ? Both Spain & Portugal out today , hopefully France & the Germans tomorrow
We watched most of this last night and to be fair an enjoyable game. Looks like we have some good future prospects in there
Really impressed with how Carsley knocked a tune out of that squad shorn of a recognized striker ,for all Spains dominance Englands defence remained steadfast and the lads worked their little cottons off to get that result. I thought Morton was good when he was introduced against the Germans ,but last night against Spains middle was a real intelligent and mature performance. One lovely bit of trickery that left the Spanish fullback completely bamboozled was exceptional. I can see a lot of teams coming sniffing for Tyler on the back of that display ,a real team performance from Carsleys young chargers and everyone of them put the graft in ,even at the close of the game Rowe still found the energy to win the penalty. Bring on the Dutch
France v Denmark 1-1 Lovely equalizer from Cisse to draw France level. France 3-2 ahead courtesy of Tel.
The fact he’s been asked to play full back (on either side) at international level is pretty nuts. He’s not a fullback
Everyone looking for CB's with composure and genuine game intelligence and Brighton jump a f*cking yard ahead of everyone else. Coppola has looked class in this tournament and looks every inch the unflappable old school Italian defender we used to associate the national team with. B@stard Brighton again !
Woltemade with the equalizer @Dirk 2-1 Germany, Weiper with a lovely finish assisted by that man Woltemade @Dirk
Italy U21s have scored two great goals in this game, but being down to 9 they'll still probably lose.
I thought the first red would have been harsh for a normal sized person ,but a Lilliputian with tear ducts that can shed enough to fill three hot water bottles was doubly harsh.
Sorry, Posh Jesus Christ. Now you know why I mentioned before the England match that I'd rather liked it that we play Spain than Italy in the quarterfinals. They conceded just 1 goal before and normally when they're ahead 1-0 in the match they win it but not this time . That free kick in the 94th minute Just kick the ball in the stands with only seconds to play but never ever try to "play it nice". Anyway, Merlin Röhl saved us (he was our best man in the England match and tbh I couldn't understand why he wasn't in the starting lineup). Semi-final against France now. Another hard match. btw: We are the only group winners who advanced to the semi-final. The other three, Spain, Denmark, Portugal all out. edit: I've just seen that I didn't congratulate England yesterday. So I'm doing it now and hopefully you'll beat the Dutch edit2: German TV Commentator and "expert" Markus Babbel just mentioned that whenever Germany played Italy in the U21 Euro we later won the thing. Happened 2-times before and now the 3rd time?
