Of course it's terrorists... there's no doubt in my mind. Seems way too much of a coincidence, coming straight after the Olympic bid.
Some people from my office were actually in London at the time... they've all had to evacuate the stations.

I'm sorry something smells extremely rotten about this. 1 day after the olympic annoucement and during the G8, London gets hit? Why not yesterday? Why not hit trafalgar square with the 10's a thousand's of people in it as awful as that sounds? What now? You need ID cards to protect you from terrorism or some other c**p rolling out of Tony's mouth? Hey maybe they'll come to the conclusion it was Iranian terrorists. Give them a justification for bombing the s**t out of Iran?

Exactly what I thought. If it is a terrorist attack (most likely) then surely they usually go for the 'glamour'? Maybe they just thought our guard would be low after the excitement.

Unless there is extremely good intelligence the chances of stopping incidents like this are negligible. All large gatherings are surely now subject to tight security and searches etc but it is the general public going about their everyday business that are most vulnerable.

    Israeli: Scotland Yard Warned Us
    Thursday, July 07, 2005

Terrorists Strike London With Series of Blasts
JERUSALEM — British police told the Israeli Embassy in London minutes before Thursday's explosions that they had received warnings of possible terror attacks in the city, a senior Israeli official said.

Israeli Finance Minister Benjamin Netanyahu (search) had planned to attend an economic conference in a hotel over the subway stop where one of the blasts occurred, and the warning prompted him to stay in his hotel room instead, government officials said.

Foreign Minister Silvan Shalom (search) said he wasn't aware of any Israeli casualties.

Just before the blasts, Scotland Yard called the security officer at the Israeli Embassy to say they had received warnings of possible attacks, the official said. He did not say whether British police made any link to the economic conference.

The official spoke on condition of anonymity because of the nature of his position.

The Israeli Embassy was in a state of emergency after the explosions in London, with no one allowed to enter or leave, said the Israeli ambassador to London, Zvi Hefet (search).

All phone lines to the embassy were down, said Danny Biran, an Israeli Foreign Ministry official.

The ministry set up a situation room to deal with hundreds of phone calls from concerned relatives. Thousands of Israelis are living in London or visiting the city at this time, Biran said.

Amir Gilad, a Netanyahu aide, told Israel Radio that Netanyahu's entourage was receiving updates all morning from British security officials, and "we have also asked to change our plans."

Netanyahu had been scheduled to stay in London until Sunday, but that could change, Gilad said.

The thing about terrorists is that they aim to strike when people are going about their day-to-day business, like going to work or in the shopping centre.

Yesterday, as wed have said, Trafalgar Square will have been subject to very tight security not witnessed on the tube or buses.

    RIP

Sick as it sounds, if it IS Al Qaeda involved, they were probably aiming to show us that they CAN hurt us… a little warning if you will.
