Yeah I went not long after that and it was pretty low down in that corner. Then they moved it higher to the adjacent corner. Now it's back where it started but a million miles higher. Isn't there some agreement that clubs have to place away fans a reasonable distance from the pitch, but Newcastle have somehow got themselves a pass? Wink wink.
I'll bite. There is an agreement to host fans pitchside however Newcastle have an exemption for safety reasons. I'd imagine when we build the new stadium we'll have to move away fans pitchside but until then the exemption on safety grounds stands.
Been quite calm all week, putting it to the back of my mind (ish), but the nerves have finally hit today! It seems like the whole world thinks we can win it, which is really nice to hear, but I'm under no illusions that if KDB and Haaland decide they want to be two of the best players the PL has ever seen again on Saturday they could very easily steamroller us and win by a few. They showed as much at the Etihad a few weeks ago, and that was without Haaland (although we didn't have Guehi). I know our fans will out-sing theirs, I know our players will out-run theirs, I know we'll keep going 'til the very last kick even if it's a lost cause, but ultimately it'll come down to who takes their chances on the day, something we did brilliantly in the semi-final. If we can play with that intensity and get the ball forwards as quickly as we did against Villa then we'll definitely cause their ropey defence problems. It's just keeping them quiet at the other end we need to perfect, but I know Oliver Glasner will have a plan. My journey to Wembley starts tomorrow morning, so I'm posting this now before I get too caught up in everything to articulate myself properly. In the pub at midday on Saturday which leaves four-and-a-half hours to get drunk enough to calm the nerves while still hopefully remembering the whole occasion. These days don't come around often for fans of clubs like ours, so I'm going to make the most of every moment - win or lose. COYP
I fear that my quiet confidence for Saturday is setting me up for an awful fall if City do us. Can't take another final loss, it'd be too cruel. Read so many stories this week from Palace fans talking about their dads who think this might be their last chance to see us win it and that kind of thing. If any Palace side was to do it, it'd be this lot. Never seen a set of players for us as determined as them, must be the power of Jesus or something
It would be a good day all round if on the 25th May we're welcoming the 24/25 FA cup winners at our yard. Best of luck to all the Palace fans on here for the game tomorrow ,It goes without saying the best parts of England and a sizable chunk of Manchester are rooting for you. Now go f*cking do it !
Absolutely terrified, lads. It’s properly consumed me over the past two weeks - from the ticketing circus (still not over that) to the creeping anxiety about the actual game. It’s the hope that kills you… but if any Palace side is going to do it, surely it’s this one. I’m not religious myself - but there’s something inspiring about how much the players’ shared faith has brought them together. So, in the spirit of unity (and sheer desperation), I’m joining in. Psalm 130:5 I wait for the LORD, my whole being waits, and in his word I put my hope.
I actually feel that I would rather Palace win and deprive 8th place of a European spot, just because it is better to be rewarded for actually winning something and I really could do without AFCB being in the Conference League (although unlikely now), with it's pitifully low standard of teams. Plus, who wants another Man City win? Boring, boring, boring.
Don't get the dislike of the conference league tbh. Gives you a trophy you have a good chance at winning, another route into the Europa league, and a practice run at being in Europe meaning you'll have a better shot at doing well in the Europa if/when you do play in it
My point was more about you winning multiple competitions over recent years. Bournemouth do not have the squad depth, so I would expect it to harm our league form. But the standard is so low, it's hardly exciting until the semi finals.
So if Palace win they will be in the Europa league and 7th drops down to the ECL with 8th missing out altogether?
Clubs like ours will never have the depth for playing in Europe until and unless we start qualifying regularly.
