Reminds me of my ex-boss in my previous job. The council wanted to close the place down because it was costing them so much money year on year to maintain. However, our manager was fighting like an absolute Trojan in keeping the place open, especially since it mainly employed disabled people helping them get back into mainstream employment. The Council then knew that their task was being made harder, so in April 2002 they decided to make up false stories about him. It was with this he had to attend an interview to keep his position and was wrongly forced out and made redundant in June of the same year. We all knew he was being set up. So he lost his job, what more could they have done to him?, wasn’t that enough?. Oh no. Fast forward to Feb 2003….. They decided to get rid of someone else fighting tooth and nail. This time though he deserved to be sacked, but decided to drag our old manager into it and try and turn his redundancy into a sacking, putting up the idea he wasn’t watching the other person well enough. They already took his job off him, wasn’t that enough? Thankfully the investigation in which an HR rep from County Hall wanted to talk to us all worked out well for him, because we all had good words to say, not one negative unlike the other guy and his redundancy remained while he got a new job before he happily retired.
Well then where do you draw the line? Everyone who ever committed any type of criminal act is banned? Hope that speeding ticket was worth it.
We live in a world of Cancel Culture now, that’s what’s made this the way it is. Sacking him was punishment enough.
FIFA have determined who's going to host World Cups for the next 10 years. We already knew Brazil were getting it in 2027 and it turns out it's going to be the last 32-team tournament as the number of teams is going to be increased to 48 for 2031 onwards (still reckon it's a terrible idea but FIFA value money over, well, anything else). So, it's going to be another big tournament in North America (probably less pricey) by 2031 but with games being held in Panama, Costa Rica & Jamaica (3 to-do countries in my book) while 4 years later, the United Kingdom is going to host as the tournament makes its long awaited return to Europe 16 years after France. Tournament is so far away that we even have Man Utd's new 100k-seater listed as one of the hosting grounds!
