5 CCJ's and a winding up order issued today with a few directors resigning. Club is once again on the brink
Why were Scunthorpe allowed to spend ridiculous amount of money on players in the summer,it was obvious owner never had any money. Club even more in debt, needed to be relegated a couple of divisions and trust taking over.Running at break even and keeping a club for fans to enjoy.
Probably that you signed a load of players that dropped down a league to play for you. Not there for "the project" are they. Will Evans, polo hands and cal roberts won't be on NLN wages. Seemed strange at the time, even more so now.
One thing after another. The club was seemingly in the best state for years (even though we’re NLN), feel good factor between fans and players. He’s either given up (not sure this is the case as he was at the game on Saturday) or just hasn’t enough money to run the club. In which case he should be looking for investment asap
When Hartlepool matched your wage offer for Max Koughan of £1800 a week you came back with an eye opening offer for him, hence why he turned Askey down. Player at York told me this. Your owner needs serious cash to be paying salary like this plus all of the rest of your signings.
I really doubt we'd be signing anyone on 1800 a week. A grand maybe but not anywhere near as much as that.
He apparently turned £1200 from us and Askey rates him highly. Why would he chose NLN over Hartlepool if not for ££££ Like I say that’s what I got told from a player. Scunthorpe were also after Callum Howe.
Think you’re underestimating the level of pay players at this level now expect, £1k a week would get you a bog standard player at this level, see our squad for that. Money clubs have inflated wages at this level to ridiculous highs, one of the reasons our owners are now doing things very differently as we couldn’t keep up with the silly budget required to compete.
Bottega is a proper tosser. He just wants the club to die. He gets perverse pleasure around spreading bad news. Proper misery guts.
Don't reckon you're far off it. In a past professional life I had a job dealing with a few footballers. I also have a relative currently playing at an NLS side so got an idea of what he is on. The money even at L1/2 and NL N/S is more than most would think it is. Think about it you've got to give up a normal job on an average wage of what £30k to be messed around travelling silly hours and working anti social hours. Risking injury etc. There's got to be an incentive. I remember at school we had a couple of ex pro players as PE teachers. (Not that they ever taught me how to do more than hoof, run and slide tackle). Without backup qualifications apart time career or pe teacher career beckons if you get past it or Injured or whatever!
Very long statement from the chairman https://www.Scunthorpe-united.co.uk...1m9gFYVOjs9J30m9HC390sm9xbSk4DimdOrycNwAHOF2o
