I love having a tycoon. I can spend £60m in a transfer window, putting us into a negative bank balance, but my chairman always tops us back up to £50m in the bank!

Losing about £6m a month, but this should change once we move into our new stadium.

Just about to face a League One side Wycome in the League Cup Final...

In my Tenerife game, Universidad LP (currently in the Spanish 3rd division) just got a tycoon takeover from some Australians.

Does anyone have tips for getting promoted from BSN with one of the worst teams in the game?

Started a new game with Doncaster Rovers.

Not much of a budget - I think it was about 250k to begin with and my wage bill is about 77k. My transfers (Top table = ins / Bottom table = outs):

http://imageshack.us/f/560/donny.png/ - (some reason i cant do screenshots on my laptop, I press the screenshot button but it doesn't work during the game only outside of the game)

So far I've been so surprised as I thought I'd struggle. My first 4 league games have been:

    Doncaster 3-1 Watford
    Sheffield United 1-1 Doncaster
    Doncaster 4-3 Swansea
    QPR 0-3 Doncaster

    League Cup results:
    Doncaster 3-0 Morecambe
    Barnsley 2-3 Doncaster
    Next up is Newcastle away.

A really good start but I can't see it lasting at all!

Manchester United........I do tend to venture down to watch Sligo Rovers now and again also
    Well......

I started with AFC Wimbledon FM 2011, seems like a lifetime ago now but got them up to League 1, back to back promotions, thought that was good but everyone here seems to have had similar success with them. Loans were the key, also won the FA Trophy and The JPT in the first and second season respectively. First season in Lge 1 (third in game overall), we went to sh**, one step to far apparently, i kept applying for jobs, declaring interest and what not, gone, out the door......jobless in 2012.....

Lurked around a bit, when, seeing that im Irish in real life and subsequently the game, i got the Shamrock Rovers job in the Airtricity Lge, stuck it out for a while, was a bit of a step down really i felt in regards the loanees and free transfers i could get, stuck it out for a while, lost the FAI Cup final and just packed that in, heart was still in Wimbledon....jobless in 2013....

after those few months i went on holiday a bit but got the Kilmarnock job, they were in the Scottish first div. once again loanees and frees made promotion pretty straight forward although Falkirk ran me right to the end. we went up, got no money at all. Were being spanked week in and week out, packed it in round October....jobless in 2014.....

Then, the best offer I could have got, dear old Gianni Paladini rang up and offered me the Q.P.R job, they were struggling in the championship but had a bit of money so i jumped at it. First season which was 2014/15, i came in round October, and didnt really do a whole lot, signed in Eto'o (scored 4 on his debut) on a free, along with Thiago Motta. Both were great while they were there. Made some other decent signings as well in that January window, Andy Carroll most notably, (eventually flogged him off to PSV for 9million. Far too many transfers to even begin to mention, reshaped the whole thing.

2015/16 - We finished 6th and went up in the play-offs, young Iuri Medeiros scoring 5 over two legs vs Norwich and we bet Bristol City in the final 3-1

2016/17 - We were the Premierships play thing for the year, made some good investments with the 28million they gave me to spend but finished 17th...just...

2017/18 - Another uneventful year in the prem, but again signed some good young regens and began to phase out all the old heads who i had signed up to get me this far, the likes of Arjen Robben, David Villa, Martin Demichellis had all gone well by their sell by date at this stage.

2018/19 - Finally had everything sorted out, a very good side, were looking set to finish 5th, and guarentee Europa League, when we got our storybook ending, Liverpool, who were in 4th with 3 games left, being managed by the Trinidad & Tobago's finest Marvin Andrews lost their last 3, where we won ours and duly slipped into 4th place, Champions League football......Naturally Andrews was sacked, and Benitez of all people was given it back.

2019/20 - Team is always improving, all regens though really at this stage, the great players anyway, could spend all day talking about them. In October, im 4th in the league, and we won our first two Champions League games vs Austria Wien & CSKA Moscow, Lyon next, we're both on 6 points. Delighted with how things are going and probably my favourite CM or FM game to date.

Massive shout out to Alf Russell the new chairman, wont expand on Loftus Road but gives me 20 million min a season to sign in me Brazilian wonderkids, and Alex Chamberlain, two million paid ages back, couldnt be more resourceful, shit stats but sign him, and have a striker who can head the ball, your laughin....

Just beat Barcelona 2-0 in the Champions League :eeek Without doubt my best result so far on this save. Nathan Delfounso got both goals, and it means I won my CL group for the 3rd season running. Absolutely ecstatic with that win :D

The good start lasted for a while.

    Doncaster 1-1 PNE
    Reading 1-4 Doncaster
    Doncaster 2-0 Millwall
    Ipswich 1-2 Doncaster
    Doncaster 1-1 Derby
    Doncaster 3-1 Coventry

Then, a weekend of madness happens. My fixture on this weekend is Doncaster. I'm 5-0 up after 80 minutes. However I ended the game with 8 men, after three important players went off injured, while all my subs had been used. With only 8 men on the pitch the game ends 5-3 to me.
My injuries from this game: Brian Stock - Broken leg 5 months. James Coppinger - Torn hamstring 4 months. Matthew Kilgallon - Broken foot 3 months.

With such a small squad with various injuries already and the transfer market shut, I can only field 4 subs, and fill the rest with youth team players. This is where my season has turned around for the worse. My next two results have been Ipswich 3-0 Donny and Donny 0-1 Scunny. I think I'm in for a stressful next three quarters of the season.

Funnily enough, I am still top of the league after that amazing start! 8 wins, 3 draws and 2 losses.

Love this game, currently with Exeter City at the moment.

First season we finished tenth which I was delighted with, no relegation troubles nor did we challenge for the play offs which sounds boring but it was very enjoyable. Bought in Myrie-Williams who was great, Charlie Lee, Greg Fleming, Ryan McGivern, Modeste Gnakpa (right back who is so fast) and a few more and all of them were very good indeed. Daniel Nardiello got top scorer which was pleasing.

Second season we are currently fourth 15 games played. Myrie-Williams is out for five months however meaning its going to be a big struggle to stay there. I bought in Yildray Basturk on a free and he only wanted £800 a week! He is a class above in League 1 and his passing is superb!

Bought in alot of youngsters since I started who will hopefully break in the team (Sam Hart, Daniel Emerton, Paudie Quinn, Giovanni Pedroni (sp)), Hart is a left winger and I will have faith and replace the injured Myrie-Williams with him. I recommend these three players massively who should all play to League 1 standard eventually and would set League 2 and below alight, and I am sure they would be willing to sign for them sides aswell! Tom Nichols is looking decent and he was with the team before I joined the club.

Tactically I try and play great football, giving all the midfielders total creative freedom and make them all run with the bal often and play through balls often, encouraging short passing aswell. And it is working very well with the 4-5-1 formation and we really play some great stuff at times.

I hate the 3D cameras just to add finally, I play on 2D and will always play on 2D.

Basturk for £800 a week? How?!

I remember on West Broms first season I bought him in on a free as a fringe player, he was ok but his wages cost £13k a week!

Well hes getting on abit I suppose, no other club wanted him and he was a free agent for a while. Those three factors normally make most players take a wage cut.

Am still going strong with my Journeyman Career, currently at Derby.

Just had this game, don't think I have ever had a match with so many goals in the first half.. for a league game anyway. Shame it was against City

With so many injuries I struggled 'til about January where a couple of players returned and I made a few more loan signings. I got rid of Jose Baxter and replaced him with Brett Omerod and Jason Euell. These two started banging in the goals along with Billy Sharp who has scored 23 goals. Unfortunately Sharp has been out for a month, but I managed to still perform well and get into the play-offs. I never thought it would be this easy with Doncaster Rovers?

Another signing I made was a right back called Sargis Hovsepyan, only 4.5k and a pretty solid championship right-back.

I have Reading in the semi-final of the play-offs. Got all my players back, even Sharp and Coppinger who have scored 40 goals between them. Feeling confident!

I just finished my second year with West Brom and finished 14th which was pleasing, as the season before I think it was 16th. I had a late run of form which took me away from the real threat of relegation and Ishmael Miller scored 18 in 32 overall which was obviously awesome.
I'm staying at the Albion and will push for mid-table this season, my players have improved and I feel I know the game better. However, I've chosen the 'avoid relegation budget' as it's a mere £3 million less than 'win the league'. I finally got rid of Basturk too who spent 2 years in the reserves on £13k a week!

Also the last day of my season was mental. Villa were in 18th with 33 points whilst Stoke were in 17th with 36. Stokes goal difference was -25 whilst Villa's was -30, meaning a 3-0 away win would send Stoke down. Villa won 5-0 and stayed up lol!

Lost against Reading in the play-offs, 2-1 on aggregate. I missed a penalty in the 93rd minute to send it to extra time :(. Still, a 4th placed finish meant that on the 25th June I found out I had £7.5mil to spend to prepare for the next season! Many players left, and many decent players came in:

As I've said screenshots do not work for some reason on my laptop, I press the screenshot during the game, click out and then paste and i get a picture of the current screen I'm on instead of the game picture which I tried to screenshot :confused, therefore I have to show my transfers like this, I clicked on the print screen button on the 'FM' drop down menu:

I'm currently 9th after 23 games, not bad at all, especially as I have a game in hand and I'm 2 points off the play-offs :) Billy Sharp, who got 27 goals last campaign is already on 17! And David Templeton has an average match rating of 7.60! Will it be this year that I go up after the heartache of losing in the Play-offs last season? Possibly!

Didn't see this post, sorry mate.

When I've started that low its usually been on a journeyman career. Im guessing your current squad would be hard to get promotion with, so either scouting free transfers or finding some yourself is the best bet. I usually find the league too easy, cos if you sign good enough free's, you will fly! If you need any help you can go to the FM2011 community forum, may need to sign up if you havn't done already and its in the Player/Team Guide section.

If thats too much hassel, just let me know and Ill give you some names of a few freebies.

Formation wise, at that level I usually stick with an original 442, playing controlled football depending on your signings.

Good luck and keep me updated.
