We weren't 2-0 up, Oli; Bordeaux opened the scoreline. Didn't watch that game as I don't have the channel that was broadcasting the game. Us not beating Bordeaux is worrying so sides like Lille, Lyon or even Marseille are in with a shout this season.
Oh yes, I forgot about Bordeaux's early goal. After seeing Marseille a few times, I'd be surprised if they had any chance of winning the title this season. I've never seen them dominate a game and I was surprised to see they beat Nantes 3:1. I also heard they haven't yet scored a single goal in the champions league. How they could qualify for the CL, and Lyon fail to do so, seems awkward.
With 2 games in hand, Marseille are virtual leaders of the league. With 3 wins in a row and 6 games without losing, they're in great form domestically. CL-form has been awful though.
Shocked a league with such a low level of competitiveness and with one dominant super rich club is set to struggle...
Not quite sure what this has to do with a TV deal collapsing... Anyway, I said the league and the clubs were more than happy to stop playing at the first lockdown (March) and this was motivated by this lucrative TV deal. The sooner they got more money in the bank, the better for clubs who were really struggling financially (business plan being live way beyond your means and sell a young defender to the Premiership to balance the books). About Mediapro (the broadcaster who wants out), a lot of people are taking the holier than thou told you so attitude but a lot also saw this as good news for French football as it enabled clubs to spend last summer and you can't really fault them for that. I don't have the exact figure but there were much more transfers than there usually is (most of the activity in France are loan-deals). Reminder: the Italian league refused to sign a deal with Mediapro as they didn't think they would pay in the long run. Don't we look stupid now... So what happens next? Well, Canal Plus is the historical broadcaster of French football and will probably get the rights currently owned by Mediapro at a huge discount which means the revenue for each club will massively decrease and indeed enforce a ITV digital scenario (knowing that the finance rules in France are much more strict than in England; clubs going bust happens quite often: Le Mans, Arles-Avignon, Grenoble, Bastia are examples that come to mind in the more recent years). Bad times indeed.
Wow, I never even heard of Mediapro. Credit to the Serie A for suspecting their business plan was nonsense. It's a shame for the French, as they've probably produced more great players than any other country in the world over the past few years, yet their top league is now bust.
Arsenal need a firm hand though and it's not like you don't already have players frozen out like Ozil & Saliba.
There’s firm hands and then there is Mourinho levels of toxicity. He also seems to fall out with his superiors at every club. It’s not a good look.
PSG: revolting plastic club, obsessed with silverware. I'm sure Qatar would pay 1 Billion to buy a UCL title. Everyone should support Lyon or Lille this season.
He made history in Lisbon then didn't give 2 shits because he knew he wouldn't get his contract extended (I'm positive he didn't want to stay as he went ape shit on Canal Plus journos more than once). A very pragmatic and intelligent coach. You could do a lot worse. Not sure about the Premiership. Reckon we won't see him on a bench until 2021/22 but that's me. If it's Poch, I'm over the moon. Don't want Motta or Allegri. Merry Christmas.
Most of those words would be used to describe somebody who supports 3 different sides with no affiliation to one another bar success.
Philip the frog, who signed Herrera guaye and Keane? Was it the club or tuchel? Not exactly the signings for a top club who want to win the champions league. Also I know it was a different regime but choupa moting. What seriously top club would make those signings. Just had to edit there because I found out it was tuchel who signed choupa moting. These are decent players for average clubs though
A lot of so-called experts are saying it's Leonardo but I don't really trust them. Leo and Tuchel have been at loggerheads for a while and it is very likely Leo and Poch will go the same way (some fans already predicting Leo to get the sack at some point in 2021). Those signings are good but not great I agree but Champions' Leagues have already be won by worst players (I always take the example of Liverpool '05 with Djimi Traoré and Igor Biscan in this case). Gueye was doing well at Everton and he bossed the Real Madrid group stage game at home last season but has since been a bit meh, Herrera does his job conveniently and so does Kean. About Choupo, he gets a lot of flack but he always gives 100% and has great attitude. It's very hard to find a quality striker who is happy to sit on the bench most of the time. Give me a Choupo over an Icardo any day of the week (especially since the Argentine hasn't been anywhere near decent for a while now). Why do you think Bayern signed Choupo? Because he's happy to a big fat contract and playind second-fiddle to one of the best CFs in recent history. He's a great compromise really.
