Robbed by the linesman of at least a point today, the officials at this level are as bad as division one, a good match spoiled by the match officials, Derby deffo deserved something from that, but at least we have looked like we belong in the championship, but need to get an away point soon.
Bristol city should have won that in the second half. They've looked pretty tidy in the games I've seen so far. Mehmeti is a player. Can't really work Swansea out. Yeah they play nice football but they're so soft and have been for years now. Proper Harlem Globetrotters stuff.
Don't know about that. First one the ball is out but it goes out off a Derby hand. Would be all the usual arguments about natural positions and all that but I think he knows what he's doing there and with VAR I think there's a decent chance it's a pen. I've seen angles of the 3rd where the ball looks both in and out, best being a fan's camera from behind it which it looks in. Either way that one was close, it was a clearance which gave Derby clean possession which you then lost and were countered on, that isn't getting overturned. Your second goal on the other hand could easily have been ruled out for an offside player blocking Gunn's view. If anything I'd be blaming that useless **** Jackson for his terrible finishing and constant falling over, not the ref.
Your the only person I know who thinks the first goal should stand, including sky sports Don Goodman who hates us. A draw would have been a fair result, by the way the Norwich support was excellent and they must be the nicest set of fans in the country, and most of them said afterwards the first goal should not have stood, but a nice club, so hope u do well this season, can see u making the play offs.
Very sad. RIP. I guess we will never know if he could have been saved with quicker treatment? Anger at decision not to stop Sheffield Wednesday v West Brom match
I didn't say it should have stood, it absolutely shouldn't have. I said that if this was a VAR league we'd have had a decent shout for a pen before it went out. The way the chances fell in the game and the chaos of the last 15 mins especially we wouldn't have been too surprised had it been a 3-3 draw. I actually think coming through this game and holding onto the win will end up being very big for us in terms of building togetherness in the squad, probably even more so than the much better home performance in our previous game. How far it'll take us? No idea, wouldn't be surprised if we finished anywhere in the top 15 or 16. Can't say I know what the Derby expectation is but on the performance yesterday I doubt you'll be looking over your shoulder too much.
Yes, so Sad. Glad to see the Bellend who made the awful comments has been identified and arrested. RIP Baggie. Edit - apparently, already lost his job too.
At the time the first one looked way out and replay backs that up. Cashin did have his hand up but I actually don’t believe any player deliberately has their hand up, regardless though it should have been a penalty which chances are you would have likely scored. Your third goal I didn’t see during the game tbh but the replays I’ve seen and the stills show it was out. Regardless though we got the second phase of the ball; albeit we were piling the pressure on and set pieces were causing big trouble for your back line. It’s all a moot point though - I don’t want VAR in this league and you take the rough with the smooth. The EFL will accept they made a mistake and regardless the linesman needs having a chat to with appropriate training and support to make sure that another obvious situation doesnt occur. I think the way Warne handled it post game was admirable - hardly talked about the ball being out which I’d rather see than the red lot down the road who bang on about it at every opportunity to play the victim.
Our manager basically came out and said that they made a load of mistakes in a 'nice' way by saying that the league needs VAR. The Championship not having VAR has almost become a selling point so I don't know if it'll be coming any time soon.
Well no guarantee VAR gets it right as we know ! Ok those were obvious factual errors but so much of VAR is subjective so we end up basically end up with more inconsistency and more debates than ever .
Think Sheffield Weds banning the bloke is fair enough. Dunno about a lifetime ban. Think the criminal consequences go too far imo. Shouldn’t be a crime to be a cvnt.
Yeah, our manager pretty much said the same thing. There will always be errors but they will be less egregious most of the time. I had to wonder if maybe they have it down better over in Denmark considering how pro VAR he was. Or maybe it's just one of those things that coaches want more often than not and fans don't.
The issue with VAR is it proves that football is a subjective game that is at times down to interpretation. Most of the time that is the talking point post match. It’s not dealing with obvious errors as it analyses bloody everything. further to this, VAR is a spectacle for the tv viewer - it kills the adrenaline rush after a goal and is there for the tv audience to analyse whilst waiting way you think the decision will be. It doesn’t take into consideration the fans at the game who create the atmosphere that viewers want to see.
Is VAR even a spectacle for TV viewers? Maybe I don't watch enough top level games but it mostly just seems to be commentators filling dead air or saying that a check is happening and then nothing happens. They could make it one by having live audio from the VAR office but I don't think they're doing that. I wasn't doing away games in our last Premier League season so most of my experience of VAR was the game stopping and then the other team getting the call.
