Could probably argue Elden Ring is the most accessible for new players tbh. You can play it multiple ways and progress at your own pace.

I don't agree at all, the world is way too big, there's way too much repetition and there's more bullshit in the game than the other ones. I'm really not too hot about Elden Ring though I think it's easily their worst game (other than DS2)

I’m with machida on this, if you want to have a proper go at one of them ER is the most accessible. It’s potentially the most forgiving as if you hit a road block you can just take a different path until you’ve improve, levelled up, get a better weapon, use your spirit ashes (an AI co-op). All of the other games will have probably multiple compulsory bosses that you ‘could’ be stuck on for hours. ER has the hardest bosses of the all the games imo but most of them are optional and if you do get stuck on a compulsory boss you can take a different path and come back when you are better prepared

Probably a waste of time though. if you hated Bloodborne you’re not gonna like the others

Finished DS1. Not too challenging for a fromsoft vet but some really good boss fights (o&s, artorius and the black dragon). None of those fights took me more than a few goes. Capra demon (phone booth fight) and bell gargoyles (rolling off the roof) caused me the most problem. All of the dlc bosses were fun but I’m surprised how short it was

the main challenge is the levels/environment. I had a nightmare in blight town. I hadn’t levelled up my weapon and the boss of the area wasn’t taking any damage. I hadn’t bought the necessary from the blacksmith so couldn’t upgrade my weapon at the bonfire. It took me 2 hours to find my way back to the blacksmith and return for the fight. The most frustrating 2 hours I’ve spent playing fromsoft games, and being in blight town actually made me feel physically dirty, which is pretty impressive tbh.

Elden ring dlc (shadow of the erdtree) out next month. I’m gonna take a break from these games and go back to ER when it comes out

How did you find the Anor Londo archers?

i found that whole area the easiest of the game if I’m being honest. The silver knights are so easy to parry and im used to dodging those arrows gaining access to anor Londo in DS3. I already knew it was coming (they are legendary amongst soul fans it seems) so I just kept on the move and strafing

toughest area was the tomb of the giants as I didn’t initially go to the area with a light source. Not recommended

the most frustrating part of the game was realising that my +1 weapon was just not enough to kill Qualaag and I didn’t purchase the necessary from the blacksmith to upgrade it at the bonfire. 2 hours it took me to find my way back to Andre, then back to that fight.

Incredible game though! It is dated which isn’t surprising based on its age but still fantastic. So glad I went back and played it properly. DS2 is now the only soulsbourne I’ve not completed, and not sure if I’ll bother tbh. With the Elden ring dlc out next month it’s likely I’ll be back playing that soon

It’s a dark, dirty, grimey area that you have to traverse, with a poison pool at the bottom that impedes your movement and slowly kills you. It’s a frustrating and difficult level (every souls game had at least 1 area like this) but it made want to take a shower after playing it

@RedDevilsShinja did you ever get as far as melania on Elden Ring? It just took me 5 hours to take her down, and I’m only slightly under levelled. She has 1 move that I can not avoid and it insta kills me every time. It makes me think I got lucky when I first killed her. Hardest from soft boss for me simply due to her ash of war on her weapon.

I'm in the Haligtree, I beat Loretta and got a bit through the next part of the level before accepting I was just burned out and wanted to quit, not gone back been 18 months or so. Will probs go back, at some point, maybe.

That’s a shame as the halligtree (and farum azula) are probably the most linear and dark souls like levels in the game

she’s a nightmare dude. 2x health bars, She has a number of attacks that one shot or stun lock you to death. She health steals with every hit, even if she hits your shield and inflicts scarlet rot in her second phase. However, this is all manageable, her ash of war skill on her katana insta killed me 99 times out of 100 if I tried to dodge through or run away from it. It can be avoided apparently but I couldn’t master it. She will do this at least once in each phase, possibly more. Only way to interupt it was throwing a specific item the very moment the animation starts. This means juggling between this and re healing mid fight against a boss that that becomes incredibly aggressive when you’re trying to heal or low on health

Yeah I've heard horror stories, obviously I've not gotten to her yet, but surely can't be that bad....

if you can figure out a way to avoid or stop her waterfoul dance then she’s very difficult but manageable. Freeze pots are the only thing I’ve found that can interupt it. But you’ve got to throw it as soon as the attack animation starts. A moment too late and it’s death. for me that means switching to heal every-time I take a couple of hits and generally cycling regularly through items mid fight. And she is the queen at punishing panic healing and has attacks that can hit you from the other side of the arena

you should definitely give her a go dude. I assume you’ve got permanent muscle memory when it comes to the controls for from soft games

you probably haven’t fought maliketh yet either. The last mandatory boss before end game kicks in. He’s really tough but it is a great fight. Possibly my favourite boss fight in Elden ring

I've watched many videos and reactions on the Malenia fight and waterfowl dance looks straight up unfair. . .

I've just about done Caelid in my play through. Took a break for a few months but got back into it recently.

My main weapon is Bloodhound fang. It's fun but lowkey feels a little OP and cheesy.

Ah good to hear dude. I’ve picked it back up in anticipation of the DLC next month

It is most definitely unfair but it can be rolled through somehow? It’s just incredibly difficult to do and I just cant work out the roll timings for the 3 phases of the attack. I died every single time I tried to roll through (literally dozens and dozens of times) and only survived once, with a slither of health left. Add in that the waterfowl dance, and all attacks that hit infects you with scarlet rot in her 2nd phase. She life steals when she hits you so you can’t trade hits with her as you’ll run out of flasks and she’ll be sat at full health. I’ve beaten her before solo but never bothered going back in the NG+ cycles. I think I got lucky first time out. I know how to beat her now but it could still take me 10-20+ goes to actually pull it off. She’s easily my personal hardest from soft boss. It’s not even close

Bloodhound fang is a weapon I always upgrade and keep if I need it. I generally use katanas or knives (as a pure dex build) so it’s the best option if I need something big to slap something with. I found The weapon art is really useful against big, sturdy enemies. Helped me through much of my first play through tbh. It’s certainly not cheesy like say rivers of blood katana. Ironically the most OP, cheesy weapon in the game is the ‘hand of Melania’, but only when she’s cheesing you with waterfowl. It’s not nearly as effective in a tarnished hand

Playing my first souls-like game whilst waiting for the Elden ring dlc to drop. Decided on lies of P as it’s relatively new and has really good reviews.

So far it’s been really good. It’s got a bloodborne vibe and similar made weapons, but combat wise it has more in common with Sekiro. Lots of parrying and blocking, dodge also works like Sekiro and not the soulsbourne games with loads i frames. This isn’t a game you can beat by just dodging. Just fought the second boss who kicked my arse due a good half hour. It honestly reminded of the Demon of Hatred fight I’m Sekiro. It seems to me bloodborne type bosses with sekiros mechanics. Not quite as smooth as the latest fromsoft games but not far off either.

only about an hour of it years ago. I do have it in my catalogue though. Has it aged well like bloodborne/Sekiro
