Hamas has agreed to release all the remaining Israeli hostages but says it wants further negotiations on a number of key points outlined in the US peace plan. In a statement, the movement said it agreed "to release all Israeli prisoners, both living and dead, according to the exchange formula contained in President Trump's proposal" - if the proper conditions for the exchanges are met. But it appears to suggest it is seeking further negotiation on other issues regarding the future of Gaza and the rights of Palestinians, saying they are still being discussed. The announcement came hours after US President Donald Trump gave Hamas a Sunday deadline to accept the peace plan or face "all hell". The Hamas statement does not specifically mention or accept Trump's 20-point plan but says it "renews its agreement to hand over the administration of the Gaza Strip to a Palestinian body of independents (technocrats), based on Palestinian national consensus and Arab and Islamic support." However the statement makes no mention of one of the key demands of the plan – that Hamas agree to its disarmament and to playing no further role in the governance of Gaza. The key question is whether the agreement to free the hostages and eventually hand over Gaza will be enough for Donald Trump to believe there is a prospect of an end to the war. The peace plan proposes an immediate end to fighting and the release within 72 hours of 20 living Israeli hostages held by Hamas - as well as the remains of hostages thought to be dead - in exchange for hundreds of detained Gazans. There are believed to be 48 hostages still being held in the Palestinian territory by the armed group, only 20 of whom are thought to be alive. Hamas says it agrees to release Israeli hostages but seeks changes to US Gaza peace plan
They really dont get it. Netanyahu only agreed to anything to get out of that room and that press conference. They've now given him the excuse to call it off.
It's completely up to the Israeli government who they invite to their country but Stephen Yaxley-Lennon is a strange pick. How do we even know that Hamas is still a thing What incentives is there in the establishment to not lie about this? Why is it a strange pick? That tosser has long been on the Israeli payroll for years and years and years. I thought Tommy Robinson's links to Zionism were pretty well known tbh, so I'm surprised it's coming as a shock to so many.
It is a change though being so open, with an Israeli minister inviting him for a visit. Maybe this is in response to the government recognising Palestine as a state, but trying to legitimise somebody like Robinson doesn't do the UK any favours.
Yes it does seem like deja vu. This apparent deal seems to be best shot at ending the current conflict, so hopefully it sticks. Even if it does, it'll probably kick off again before long, but some respite for the people would be good.
I can't see Netanyahu allowing this one-sided war to end because when it does he's going to have to justify his actions to the Israeli people.
The father of a hostage (who will hopefully be released soon) was exoriating about Netanyahu this morning. Given that Yaxley Lennon has been in prison and the views of the British govt about him, it's undiplomatic (to say the least) of the Israeli govt to invite him.
Hostages being handed over to the Red Cross as type. Still a long long way to go for peace if ever that will come.
All 20 remaining living hostages have now been handed over, no reports of Israel handing over their 200+ hostages yet.
Dude saved lot of lives on October 7 by throwing away a grenade. Of the 17 Nepali agriculture students, 10 died that day, 5 were injured, 1 escaped & Joshi was caught & taken as hostage. EDIT: Some Israeli reports claiming dead. Others saying unknown.
He's not going, he's already there. This Egypt thing is basically a Trump backslapping event, where the Great Orange Rapist arrives to the adulation of all the other world leaders who worship him and his 'diplomacy'. Proof that it's all about the orange convict can be seen when he turns up horribly late and keeps them all waiting in the queue to kiss his arse.
I know you read my "review" on it, but if you havent already seen it, watch The Bibi Files and you'll know exactly why. He is going away for a long time once this all ends...and his wife.
I have a feeling that this disgusting war criminal and his clan will be invited to retire to the good ol' US of A in the very near future, otherwise he wouldn't have been prepared to end the Gaza genocide.
Yeah, wouldnt surprise me and if not that, he will pull another red flag to kick the Gaza "war" off again, the mans an absolute slimeball and if ever anyone needed to be at war to stay in power and out of prison, its him. Always disliked him, but that film just confirms everything said about him and more. Not just this "war" but pretty much everything thats gone on in the ME for over two decades is probably down to him.
