All Serie A matches are available to stream with the Paramount+ package. I have it for that and CL football so it’s not horrible value although I don’t watch as much Serie A as I used to. There was a point 10+ years ago Inter and Milan were on Fox Sports quite a bit. If you do want to follow from the States next year, I’d highly recommend.
Yes, aware of that. My stated preference for Udinese staying up was that I wasn’t clear on how available Serie B is in USA.
Empoli play Roma at the weekend and are a point behind Udinese so reckon they will be ok with a draw and obviously a win.
Atalanta look like finishing 4th now - does that mean a 6th Italian team can get into the Champions league or will Bologna in 5th have to go through the play-off stages?
football-Italia.net article says Bologna are in the CL, and Roma now out per Atalanta ending up 4th (or 3rd). They also dumped on how horribly Napoli finished against Lecce lol. Even if Atalanta had stayed 5th and Fiorentina won the upcoming UECL final to grant the 9th place Serie A squad a chance at next year’s UECL…Napoli finish friggin’ 10th so no matter to them anyway. (What waste of Victor Osimhen.)
Looks like Udinese have saved themselves thanks to 2 ex Hornets. And Empoli stay up with a last minute winner v Rima!
England’s Keinan Davis, off a feed from Udinese’s most effective forward this season, Lorenzo Lucca, nab the 1-0 victory at around 75’ to stay in Serie A. Too close for comfort but certainly a relief. I’ll need to watch the Empoli-Roma highlights and the stoppage time goal that saved Empoli and saddened the faces of those poor hopeful Frosinone supporters, who’ve suffered immediate relegation (right after promotion) yet again like they did 6 years ago.
Poor Frosinone. They had ample chances to lead, particular through €25M (by far the highest paid on the squad) Argentine Matías Soulé and his free kicks. Hit a couple of crossbars, along with some fantastic fingertip saves from Nigeria’s Maduka Okoye. Soulé is only 21, surely he comes back to Juve to blossom there. Whether Udinese can afford to keep 24-years-old Okoye away from richer clubs after this impressive performance is worth monitoring. It may be back to Marco Silvestri coming off his current injury. Of note, Roberto Peyrera, one of UDI’s most effective offensive threats besides Lazar Samardžic, did not play tonight despite being eligible on the bench. So Udinese survive after the losses of so many key players in the past 3 seasons: Rodrigo de Paul, Juan Musso, Kevin Lasagna, Destiny Udogie, Nahuel Molina, Beto…and of course the will-he-ever-play-again Gerard Deulofeu.
Don't think I've seen a side that has won a solitary home game stay up. Well done (I suppose). Big points tally for Inter. 94 pts is the highest points finish since 2017.
Impressive and pathetic at the same time? And their 19 draws is the most of any Serie A side in the last 10 seasons. (Maybe more, the site I used to check this went no further back in time.)
worldfootball.net went back farther. Udinese’s 19 draws is the most since Serie A went from 18 to 20 teams in 2004-05. Two played 18 draws: Inter in that same 04-05 season, and Empoli in the 14-15 campaign.
We came sooooo close to the final Serie A match of the season pairing the Europa and Europa Conference league champions. (What long odds that would have been yet it almost happened!)
This article be rippin’ nastiness at my Udinese! Serie A must cut out comfortable mediocrity and reduce 20-team league If Serie A do take this editorialist’s advice and reduce to 18, I’m glad it got delayed past this 2023-24 season. With Venezia earning the 3rd Serie A promotion slot yesterday, the critics are just gonna have to live with two mediocre northeast Italy squads for at least another year! Three if you count Hellas Verona. (Of course I hope differently for one of them.)
Conte named manager at Napoli.. How will he and the President get on - both not afraid to speak their minds . Antonio Conte: Napoli appoint former Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur manager
I hate that Udinese lost Roberta Pereyra to AEK Athens. Yeah he’s 33 but he and Lazar Samardzic were their only two playmakers. And who watches the Greek League outside of Greece? Need Deulofeu back now, more than ever.
I really don't understand why Udinese let Pafundi go to Switzerland instead of let him play instead of awful players like Success or Thauvin. There is a huge problem that we italians have with young players and it seems like it's chronic. Wtf this guy is considered one of the best player of his generations and after a great U20 World Cup last year he can't even find a small spot in Serie A.
“Simone Pafundi, we hardly knew ya!” Only a few minutes in one Udinese match last season, and 85 minutes across 8 matches the season prior. Guess the bosses didn’t like him much despite the lackluster results of these others. (Thauvin 8 G/A, Success 2 G/A, each in about 3/4 of the matches.)
Surely it is a sad thing for Serie A, that Ciro Immobile will only be a past, not present, part of it.
