Signed Tom Nixon permanently after a loan spell last season. Very solid signing imo. Unfortunate for him that Sterry returned from fitness and was immense, but he offers something different and should be a really good back up
Huw Jenkins has said we have some signings but isn't realising who has been signed so that's interesting.
Harry Pell and Scot Bennett confirmed yesterday and Ryan Haynes today. This after we sold Lewis Freestone to Stevenage for £100k.
We've brought in Sbarra, Gibson, Clifton and Nixon on permanents then Sharman-Lowe and Yeboah on loan. McCann says we're after one more and I reckon we're a striker short... Apparently the one were in for is Billy Sharp, I guess it wouldn't be a summer unless he was linked. Not sure he's what we need personally but it's Billy Sharp...
Sam Hornby on trial with Chesterfield. Not sure how good he is but would think Ryan Boot will be our number 1 next season . https://www.derbyshiretimes.co.uk/sport/football/former-colchester-united-bradford-city-and-port-vale-goalkeeper-training-with-chesterfield-4676188
Can’t believe King Billy is back I don’t know what kind of wages he’ll be on and I know that he’s no spring chicken. But the man is a living legend in Doncaster and surely he’s still going to be very capable at L2 level Also the away kit is sexy as ****
My mate who is a vale fan said to me that Sam Hornby is a better goalkeeper than Ryan boot. He said Ryan boot was a poor error prone keeper at vale but he's more experienced and played alot of games since whereas Hornby appears to be a second choice keeper everywhere he goes.
Looks on paper like a cheat code in League 2 but will he get a game though as Joe Ironside fitted Donny & McCann's system more & more as last season went on & i can't see him being happy sat on the bench . Nice problem for Grant to have though .
Ciaran Brennan has joined Newport too. Still no sign of a new manager so these must have had Coughlans approval.
We signed Will Wright from Crawley yesterday and have just announced Harry Smith, who we had on loan back in 2017.
I don't see McCann paying Billy Sharp the salary he can command just to be on the bench. We have Sharp and Ironside up front and George Miller as well (he was our top scorer before his knee op). The three would make a formidable 3 up front of a 4-3-3.
That is absolutely ludicrous Neither Sharp, Miller or Ironside can play either side of a striker in a 3 up front. That would be the most narrow front 3 ever
We've signed a few players lately, most recently Grant Hall which, if he can stay fit, is one hell of a signing for L2.
