Ourselves and Gillingham is more of us hating on Ainsworth. Basically came in and expressed that he didn’t realise how beautiful the town of Shrewsbury is and has plans to move his family up here as he’s fallen in love with the place so much. Ainsworth would regularly be spotted on nights out around the town’s pubs and clubs and would frequently be in the coffee shops (which ended up being a bit of inside joke towards Ainsworth). As well as all this he wanted to do the renewal season ticket video for the clubs socials himself and was saying how he loves Shrewsbury only to **** off a week later after releasing the video. I could understand a move higher up the pyramid or to a much bigger club… but Gillingham!? Really!? They’d feel the same if a manager left them for us too before they say anything. Oh well… hope the blokes really enjoying the “beautiful” Gillingham.
This felt inevitable when we released him. Some ITK belove Crosby wanted to keep him, but a poor injury record last season coupled with Kieron being one of the higher wage earners meant no new deal offered. He's lost what pace he had and was at his best for Rovers last season when deployed in a creative midfield role. It will be interesting following his progress at Oldham. I think Latics fans are going to have to get used to Micky's preference for older players, if not already at that point.
He looked finished last season but before that he was very good for us so it's difficult to say what player you will be getting he did have a few injuries last season in fairness.
Be interesting to see how he does in comparison to raglan. Raglan was a real asset and leader. Consistent and an animal at times. If the daniels signing doesn't come off mellon will be criticised heavily
Jayden Sweeney is a heavy rumour for us from Leyton Orient as Humes replacement never heard of him but played 19 games in league 1 last season so might be alright .
I get that, and yes, if the boot was on the other foot we would be pretty miffed. Wasn’t the main reason though that the expected investment fell through? Still think the signing video was a bit childish, but it was all a bit of a poor attempt at humour really. I don’t have any beef with Shrews and I don’t think many of our fans do. And Gillingham and Shrewsbury arguing over who is the bigger club is a bit like Will Boyle and Ian Dowie arguing over who is the prettiest.
Luca Thomas on trial with us as well. 20 Y/O, just been released by Leeds and spent time on loan at York & Halifax last season. Striker/Winger apparently.
Very rare we lose our best players to teams in our division so it’s a weird one this but it’s an undoubtably strange move from Hume when he surely could’ve gotten a League 1 move on similar money? I really liked Hume and think he made a huge impact last season but he was still part of a defence that regularly leaked goals. Fleetwood now have Mullarkey and Hume, they’ll be great money to concede every week.
Thats potentially the most fun signing we've had in a long time! If he has the impact of Kone at Wycombe, who was signed from the same level, we're in for a treat. Equally he could be on loan at Mangotsfield in a few months.
We've currently got Harrison Sohna (Cheltenham), Marley Rose (Bristol City) and Omar Mussa (Torquay) on trial.
I think signing for you would be a good move for him, gets him out of his comfort zone here where he has been since he was kid. Made his debut for us in the FA Trophy when he was only 16 in 2018. One of these modern day full backs who is better going forward than at defending, he needs to work on his defensive positional play as he gets caught out from that quite a bit. But he is quick and is very good at linking all the forward play, despite being short he has a very good leap on him and wins his fair share of headers. Good Luck to him, played his part in our recent success these last few years, but he wasn't League One standard yet and he needs more games to develop.
Sohna is fantastic on the ball, got a wand of a left peg. His workrate is a big issue though. Also, it seems he likes being close to home (he's from Gloucester) because it means he can get up to shit with his mate - I must stress these are rumours only, but Michael Flynn did say going to Wealdstone on loan last season was great because it got him away from his home distractions.
I'm surprised we didn't sign him after how Kone took to League 1 football plus Amersham is only around 10 miles from High Wycombe.
It's about time it was us making a signing like Tabor, fingers crossed he has the same impact as Charlie Austin did.
