I've seen that goal back several times since the weekend and there are three Notts players between him and the ball, so he really can't come for it. By the time they all miss it and it bounces, largely because of Platt getting shoved in the back, its too late to do much other than try to pull off the reaction save from the header. I wasn't a fan of some of his decisons in that game, but very unfair to blame that goal on him in my opinion. I will wait until after a few more games before I get my pitchfork out I reckon. Seems to be happening more and more these days at all clubs. Players getting written off after a game or 45 minutes in some cases. Got to be more patience as people actually get to know their teammates/systems surely?!
New keeper signed on season loan Cieran Slicker from Ipswich. I suspect Owen Evans has lost his place after Saturday.
I was sad to see him go too. Scored some really good goals too - one in particular I remember him running onto a through ball & running at keeper. We all knew the Quigley of old would have missed but also the confident Quigley of that promotion season was absolutely gonna score & he did. Was a thing of beauty
Agent Fitzsimons not only gifted us the very last equaliser in normal time but he also got nowhere near any Notts penalty. Whereas Mrs Slocombe tried his very best ruin the whole day for us thousands of pies in the first 5 minutes of the game only to then be replaced by the basically unknown Archie Inspector Gadget Mair who saved two including one absolutely spellbinding penalty save. Right in front of us. Unforgettable day, unforgettable moments.
Slightly bizarre signing a pre contract for him to join in January when we desperately need a LCB now, unless of course we bring in someone on loan until Jan.
because it’s a free transfer this way. He was meant to sign last January but they were concerned about something picked up in his medical, and because they’d inexplicably left it to the end of the window there was no way to get it properly checked out before the deadline. Probably can be considered better ‘business’ this way, even if I’d personally have preferred him a year ago. I’m absolutely buzzing about this one.
Yes Big Joe legend! You'll like him honestly, if only for his endeavour and attitude. And if a few things come off for him and his confidence goes up he'll score some surprising good goals for you. Some critical ones our promotion season. Top fella too, nice guy
