The disparity between all the geeks on Twitter and the bookies for where we’re predicted to finish couldn’t be bigger. I find it very bizarre, and it all seems to centre around a belief our owners, who have been very sensible borderline boring for 5 years, have suddenly lost the plot and want to pick the team themselves. I think the bookies have largely got us right in that 6th region, potential to exceed certainly but a bigger standard deviation whereby if we finished midtable it’d be less surprising than if someone like Bristol Rovers or Chesterfield did.
Yeah I agree with this. I see us with a pretty large range of outcomes but I think it's roughly as likely we finish in the top 3 as it is we finish 12th-14th as some have us, whereas it seems like outside of the playoffs would be a disaster level season for Chesterfield or MK. 1. Notts is an odd one because I do think you’ll do better than the consensus seems to be at right now with content creators. Personally think the committee decision-making thing is less of an issue than the actual managerial appointment not being particularly inspiring (at least from the outside looking in). As has been mentioned I don’t think the owners’ decision-making should suddenly start being questioned, but it is hard to believe that the new manager was anywhere near the top of the shortlist they’d have drawn up after Maynard went. The team does seem weaker, but realistically it was a top 3 quality team last season that was mismanaged somewhat, so no reason why it shouldn’t be good enough to make the POs this year.
Yeah, I’d say there would be a lot less scepticism about our season if the record of the head coach wasn’t non existent/piss poor, regardless of the set up of the committee running the team. We’ve probably got a decent enough first choice 11 to do ok, but the unproven nature of the personnel running the show means the window of where we could end up is fkin massive. If Jones gets injured and/or Jatta leaves we could be struggling.
Yeah, I don't think the owners are a problem at Notts. Mountain out of a molehill kind of stuff. However, the main thing to suggest to me that they might finish lower than last season are their signings which aren't massively inspiring and become even less so when stacked up against the quality they've lost in the 12 months. Combine that with a bit of a rogue managerial choice, playing poor football for a lot of last season and quite a bit riding on the fitness of Jodi Jones and I think you can certainly make a case for them not being in great shape. That being said, there is quality in the squad and I think they're now more equipped for a scrap than they have been since returning to this level. If a balance can be struck between that and the ridiculous gung-ho tactics that we've all enjoyed in recent years then it could work out more than fine. One of the sides in the division that I wouldn't be overly surprised to see finish anywhere. I think whether or not the likes of us, Colchester, etc, ie. the chasing pack have improved enough will be a factor. If other teams have not improved to any great degree and the division pans out like it did last season, for all the so-called experts' trashing of Notts, they could conceivably regress and still once again make the playoffs. The division really is that much of a oddity.
Been delaying waiting for our signing of a top striker so I could put us top but that hasn’t materialised so here goes Chesterfield MK Bristol Rovers Salford Colchester Swindon Walsall Barnet Grimsby Notts Gills Crawley Bromley Fleetwood Tranmere Latics Cambridge Crewe Shrewsbury Barrow Stanley Harrogate Cheltenham Newport

Accrington Top two fairly easy, have gone for the Spireites to edge the title due to continuity, although think Milton Keynes have a stronger squad. Thought the Gills underperformed against their squad strength and Ainsworth can continue to turn things around. Think Fleetwood with some good recruiting and a sound manager in Wild might be a surprise contender for the play-offs, but otherwise much as others and the bookies predicting. At the other end, Accrington don't seem to have bolstered a weak squad enough, with owner Holt wanting out, while Newport have gone for another relatively inexperienced wild card as boss. However any side from 18th down could be in danger of the drop. 18th is the position, where I'm predicting my own side Tranmere Rovers will end up. While Andy Crosby is a better man-manager than Adkins and to some extent hampered by the 2 year deals his predecessor gave to the likes of Davison and Saunders. There is little depth in the squad, should any of the preferred starting xi become unavailable. I'm quite surprised at some of the comfy mid-table predictions for Rovers, but with no takeover on the horizon, would happily settle for them!

Harrogate Town I'd give reasoning for some of my placings but, to be honest, I had my top 7 and bottom 2, and I have Cheltenham finishing 9th because I think we'll finish the season quite strongly (I don't think we'll ever be in the playoff shouts). After those positions, I just threw the rest in. Newport, Accrington and Harrogate at the bottom seems almost cliché this season - as does MK Dons and Chesterfield at the top - but there's always a surprise team at the bottom, and I'm not sure Andy Whing is going to do well at Barrow. I think they could start poorly and never truly recover.
Too many of the 'experts' and even many on here predicting us high lump on us for relegation i reckon
Who will be the Carlisle this season who everyone expects to romp top 3 and then come low low ? Bound to be 1
We did our predictions on our pod last night and one guy had Crawley doing a double dip. One had Crewe going up, whilst another had Crewe going down!!
For what its worth here's mine based on our squad development and little else bar the knowledge of teams in this division over the last 2-3 seasons 1. MK Dons 2. Swindon 3. Colchester 4. The Robins Report (it's in my avatar). We basically ramble on about Cheltenham for a between 1 and 2 hours every week.
