If you don't win the league then you've bottled it

Liverpool's squad is genuinely very good and if Klopp had stayed on I'd have expected a serious title push this season, and been disappointed to have not won one of the league or CL.

It’s about picking your battles. Haaland is literally the only striker we have, and he was absolutely ****ed in the last 10mins on Saturday. There’s absolutely no doubt Pep wants to win every game, but at the same time, he knows this is lowest priority competition. I mean, Akanji injurued in the warm up tonight, and Savio going off too - and we’re already down to the bare bones. Not playing Haaland was the right call, dunno why he even travelled tbh.

Our squad is the weakest it’s been for years. Our 2 most important players are Rodri and Haaland, we don’t have direct replacements for either, and Rodders is already out for the season. I think apart from in Defence, you have the deeper/more balanced squad.

Also not sure I agree on the “superstar” thing, I’d say only really Haaland comes into that category for us, but I reckon Salah does too. I do obviously think our first XI is overall better, but squad-wise, we’re not that strong.

On the plus side our away game at Brighton has been moved back to the Sunday and is still on Sky, so it was worth winning just for that.

Some good goals across all games tonight, but just seen Nwaneri’s, wow. Gonna be some player that lad.

Just seen that, softens the blow a bit. Hopefully we catch Arsenal on an off day and Kamada repeats what he did with Frankfurt but I can’t see it.

Hard to predict seven weeks out but it comes at a time when we play all our fixtures in London

9 fixtures from November 30th to 1st January.

Missed the game. Apparently Morton had a good one. Nice to hear that.

Didn't see the whole game, but it was a nice pass that led to the opening goal, nice tidy finish from Gakpo.

And it was a cracking save from Jaros shortly after we scored. It could have been a bit easier hadn't it being for a brain fart for Brightons first goal from Quansah, he was a bit unfortunate for the 2nd Brighton goal though.

Nice quater final draw for us to see more of the young lads.

Another little midweek away trip to the south coast, but still the kindest draw on paper.

Made the last few more tense than was needed, but otherwise job done.Gakpo taken up Taki's mantle. Thought Morton was tidy, looks very useful on the ball & a lovely pass for the Gakpo first, though that was mainly Cody. Morton might well have a chance at being a very decent player even if not with us.

Jaros did well generally, wasn't much he could do about the goals (what an unfortunate few minutes for Quansah), but particularly that superb save. Heard talk from Achterberg in the past that we wanted to become some sort of goalkeeping academy (FSG have a "Global Head of Goalkeeping" in Hans Leitert!), but the first three at the club aren't half bad relatively, nor is the fella out in Spain atm.

Tbf your lot actually have a fair few first teamers out, so it's probably risk v reward as your squad isn't quite as deep as people assume, especially not currently.

Now if Gakpo can start shooting with that much ferocity and accuracy in the Prem then Kopites will be the proverbial happy bunnies. Lovely first goal and the second was arrowed into the net just as effectively. Morton looks like he has that air of German efficiency and it was discovered in Wallasey of all places a village less German than Kuwait. Nyoni too has that 'you just know he's going to be special' look about him and never seems fearful in initiating a move under his own volition.

Jaros seems a decent back up and showed a real cool head with his passing out from the back. Other than that ,I felt really sorry for Quansah as his misplaced pass seemed to decimate his confidence and probably the reason he was withdrawn. Saints next in what could be a banana skin of epic proportions if we go there with even a whiff of arrogance.

We've sold out the 6,000 allocation for our quarter-final at Arsenal next Weds. Probably going to get dicked but if they take their eye off the ball you never know!

I wonder if Slot will play a weak team this time now. He really should do.

Depends on the team you play I guess.

I know we're going to rotate....and I'd say keep an eye on this tie for an upset.

Then I have a feeling you’ll be enjoying a semi final in January.

Let’s see but I think five or six first teamers won’t start.
