Listened to his interview yesterday anybody not excited at what he had to say is not going to get excited by anything.
Just wondering on how Ben Wiles is working out for Huddersfield? He seemed to have lost his way a bit with us just before his transfer, did his form pick up?
He was nothing to shout about but can tell there's a player there. Hopefully now we have some managerial stability and were building a good squad up he will be one to look out for this season.
Rotherham have completed signing number 12 with Nottingham Forest's Espa Osong joining on a season long loan subject to EFL approval. The 19 year old marksman has been a consistent scorer at Youth levels and now hopes to make the step up to senior football. He replaces the departed Tom Eaves but is supposed to be fast, tricky and a natural goal scorer .................................... so nothing like Tom then. According to SE we also have 3 trialists training with us and they will play in this weekends friendlies at Stamford and Spalding, with contracts on offer if they show the right promise. Six summer signings so far, just under six mil spent. Ryan Allsop - 400k Bailey Peacock Farrell - 800k (that'll cost a few bob having that name on the back of your shirt) Alfie May - 750k Emil Hannson - 1.5m Alex Cochrane - 1m Willum Thør Willumsson - 1.5m
Some impressive signings especially for League 1, with probably more to follow. It'll be interesting to see if the fledgling manager can make them into a team. If he can, Birmingham should be in the auto spots, anything else will be a bit of a let down for Blues fans I imagine. All opposition managers have their team talk sorted, it's up to the Blues players to stand up to the rough stuff and show their undoubted quality. Not easy though as many big town teams have shown before in this league.
That’s one of my biggest fears not being able to stand up to the rough stuff. So far everything the manager says has impressed me. Tactically very smart guy whilst not being scared to try what many wouldn’t. Last week he played the under 18’s winger at centre back in a friendly. In midweek he played Tyler Roberts, in centre midfield. Both decisions turned heads. Still think we need some battle hardened ball winners two more strikers, left footed Cb and cover at right back.
Davies will have two weeks and some to find out if his new team can handle the rough stuff, if they can’t he’ll have to go find someone to knit the whole thing together, a 19 year old Roy Keane should do it..
Marc Leonard, will add much needed guile and some know how into the middle of the park. Great signing imo.
23 year old left back Jack Sparkes signed from Pompey on a 3 year deal . Ex Exeter City & has played & knows Archie Collins & Joel Randall well , played 43 times for promoted Pompey last year . Our new left back & £500k signing from Crewe Rio Adebisi is out for 4 months & Harrison Burrows hasn't yet signed for either Coventry , Sheff Utd or Leeds so Sparkes bit of a weird covering signing .
A bit leftfield for Posh not signing someone from Exeter , Barnet or Northern Conference team but Oscar Wallin 23 year old centre back from Swedish Superettan League team Degefors ( currently 3rd after 16 games ) on a 2 year deal with undisclosed option & fee . Pleased with this with both Ronnie Edwards & Josh Knight leaving earlier in the window & 23 good age experience & future sell on . We are due also to announce a defensive central midfielder from Man City's academy team tomorrow which leaves just the right back position to fill .
Sam Curtis right back season loan from Sheff Utd according to MacAnthony who denies any interest in Jacob Wright of Man City . Don't know anything about new Sheff Utd lad other than he's Irish . One out of the door today was Jacob Wakeling season loan to Gillingham though he'll probably be back in November injured again . Our Number 9 shirt is still vacant , I wonder who'll be donning that this season ?
Posh have signed a 19 year old Spanish defensive midfielder Mahmadou Susoho from Man City on year loan deal . He's represented his country at Under 17 & 18 level & played for City in last season's Champions League match away at Red Star Belgrade so he should be a good addition to the squad & with Kyprianou injured after playing in the U.S for City v Barcelona last week may face Huddersfield this Saturday . 2 other signings for our Under 21's are Ma'kel Bogle-Campbell released from Fulham Under 21's & Everton's Ashley Young's son Tyler both midfielders .
