Personally speaking, I'm not, although I can't speak for the absolute cretins who felt it necessary to chant "We're ****ing s***" after we managed to concede a late goal yesterday having done pretty much everything but score in the first half from the reports I had. It is slightly infuriating that we seem to fall apart after conceding at home at the moment when we've been so solid on our travels but, with getting on for half our first choice XI out in recent weeks, we're doing a lot better than we might have. Frankly, I'd take where we are now at the end of the season.
I can see Donny fans are no different to Grimsby fans. Win a game and we will be champions, lose a game and we are heading down a league. It's all crazy. Personally, I want Grimsby to do well as a local team.
For Grimsby and Donny fans, read fans of nearly every team in League 2. We have them at Cheltenham as well. It's football in this social media era. Instant success is all that's acceptable. Every defeat is the end of the World and every win is a guaranteed title challenge.
Don’t think our fans are actually too bad to be honest. There’s definitely a few who just seem to wait for a defeat so they can get on their phones and slag the team off
Well our cretins should be quiet tonight at least. Five successive away league wins for the first time, apparently, since the days of Bill Shankly.
We’re struggling along at the minute. Drawing games we should be winning and the performances just aren’t there Olowu was brilliant yesterday, Senior and TSL also with good games but other than that they need to have a look at themselves. Don’t get me wrong we’re still in a great position, but with how tight it is up there we won’t get top 3 if we carry on like this
I think it is fair to say this is a tough league with not a lot separating the top half of the table. Every point is crucial. The Doncaster optimists will say we have only lost 1 in 11 games (all comps) but when every point counts we are slipping away right now with too many draws. Port Vale are showing determination. Walsall, Crewe and MK Dons all have games in hand over Doncaster, so realistically we are probably 5th or 6th which is NOT what Grant McCann promised. Too many fans think we can repeat the great run of last season, but why should we? That was a record-breaking run. Things are not quite clicking this season and our best players aren't performing as hoped. We have the quality to do much better. We may end up in the playoffs again and look where that got us last season. It's amusing how fans can view the same situation differently. 46 draws and one fan will say “we are unbeaten all season”. But realistically 46 points mean relegation.
Draws this weekend for Port Vale, Crewe, Doncaster and Notts Co. MK Dons postponed, and only Grimsby slipped up in top 7. Walsall are looking like they could take poll position with their games in hand. We will see what happens tomorrow. Tough at the top, and the rest are closing up.
Well done Bromley to nearly beat Walsall. You were robbed of a win by a last minute goal. Even a draw at Walsall is a good result though.
Christmas come early for Colchester and Grimsby ! Will Swindon and Accrington blame the fact they had extra time on Saturday ?
Last night was quite possibly the WORST game of football I have ever watched. We were crap, Barrow were slightly better than crap, no more than 7000 there, no atmosphere, freezing cold etc etc.... I don't think we should sack Alexander as whoever we get in it will be the same, but my god it is a bad bad watch at the minute. Crewe (4th), Swindon (24th), Notts (6th), Vale (1st) and Chesterfield (9th) to come this month. I can honestly see us losing them all and being in the relegation fight going in to the New Year.
Great result tonight at Fleetwood as it’s somewhere that we usually struggle. Expected to concede with Tom Anderson playing, but the change of formation from the start made us look so much more creative. No goals for Joe Ironside but arguably MOTM. George Broadbent also had a really good game tonight. Surprised Billy started tonight after playing the full 120 on Sunday but he bagged himself another goal Also Port Vale - Walsall on Saturday. A draw would do very nicely there
