That's disappointing, rumour was he had fallen out with the coach some time ago, as he wasn't getting game time although not injured. Wonder if he will get another loan this January. How are Devan Tanton and Harvey Araujo doing at Chesterfield ? Last reports were Tanton was picking up muscle injuries, so had not played too much, but Araujo was getting game time.
Tanton has gone back to Fulham today, loan expired. He's looked good when he's played but that's been very little as he has been injured most of the time. Araujo definitely has something about him but he's a bit raw. He looks good most of the time but then has made the odd costly error. He needs game time.
I really hope none of our players read the shite posted on Bobs Board . Looking at what half of them post tells me they’re not true town fans.
It doesn't, as we terminated his loan on Thursday Bit of a weird one with him. He started off bright and scored a couple of goals, we thought he would be the man to partner Cook but then he just got bombed out of the squad so everybody assumed he'd had a fall out with the manager. He then worked his way back in but he missed quite a lot of clear cut chances and I think it's right he got sent back. There's a player in there but I think he needs a run of games to get going which he didn't get here unfortunately.
Good luck to him, but not the best of loans as they are a very poor side who don't really create much.... Meanwhile, what a game to look forward to on Saturday. Walsall have won their last 9 in the league (16 unbeaten) whilst we have 7 wins from our last 9 in all comps. 3rd in the home table vs 2nd in the away, the two in form teams in the league. Walsall can't win every week can they? To be 12 points clear at the top with a game in hand is quite something. Shame they have only sold 600 or so as a sold out away end could have made this one have that big game feel. Looking forward to it and can't predict the result, just hoping for a good end-to-end game but 3 points could move us into 3rd (for a couple of hours at least).
Walsall's players aren't that much better than everyone else's - it's all down to effort and teamwork. With the amount of analysis being done on them, somebody's going to come up with the way to negate that. Obviously it's disappointing that we don't have more glory-hunters. I reckon there will be 800-900 travelling to Bradford.
"Walsall's players aren't that much better than everyone else's" At the start of the season every team in this league wanted to be champions or promoted. The simple fact is that Walsall are there and making it look easy. Good luck to them. We have been hearing from our manager (Doncaster Rovers) since pre-season that he wants Donny to be champions, but so far we are well off the mark and the title is there for Walsall, unless they lose momentum. No-one can catch them at this rate.
"Walsall can't win every week can they? To be 12 points clear at the top with a game in hand is quite something. " Even if Walsall lose 3 or 4 games to the end of the season they will still be champions with this lead. It's a great position to be at this stage. It's best to face them when they have switched off in the last 4 games or so.
Yes might be a few clubs hoping that is the case . I looked it up and their last few games include Newport , Accrington and Crewe who all might need points.
I don’t want to jinx this last 40 minutes but WOW we have made Walsall look poor. Statement victory. GET IN!!!
Great time to break our terrible record against Harrogate with other results going our way! Charlie Crew looked nice and composed in the middle of the park which is exactly what we’ve needed. Performance still wasn’t great but I’d take anything against bloody Harrogate Massive result for Bradford. What a win
It's probably overegging the pudding to say we're now seeing Walsall's wobble but successive away defeats might just offer a glimmer of hope to their, still rather distant, pursuers. Meanwhile, we still can't win in 2025, though we certainly deserved something tonight based on our first half performance.
I've got to ask any Walsall fans on here, what has happened to you? You are still head and shoulders above every other club and where we all want to be, but losing two in a row must be a worrying trend for you. So what has changed and/or could this continue?
I’m not a Walsall fan but losing Lowe and then coming up with two tough away games against a resurgent Bradford and a Fleetwood team that had already beaten them this season, was always going to be regarded as tricky. I don’t think they’ve reason to panic over the results in isolation, the big concern must be replacing Lowe who was the standout player in the division up to him going back to Stoke.
Huge game tomorrow against Wimbledon. They don't concede many and I'd take a 0-0 if it was offered to me. We aren't great away from home but we are on a superb run and if they come at us we could sneak it on the counter.
In my opinion, our players aren't 12 points better than everyone else's. We've got where we are by the system we're playing. When the system breaks down, our players haven't necessarily got the individual skills to score on their own. Lowe's running helped to create goals throughout the team, and was our first line of defence. I think it's more important to replace his running rather than his goals. Hopefully, we get our mojo back today!
Brilliant win today. Always good to beat franchise fc. Best home performance I can recall all season and played much more like a McCann team. Owen Bailey is playing so much better now Crew is in the holding role, Joe Ironside with a brilliant finish and back to his usual self holding the ball up for Molyneux and Ennis. Chasing Walsall down now!
Much needed win to keep us in realistic touch with the playoff positions after a disappointing start to the new year and particularly nice to do the double over whinging Woodman of Bromley. Need to make sure we back it up against Carlisle next week before a big trip to Doncaster on the 15th.
