I did too, very Royal family, Early doors in style but it was Wilkinson. Craig Cash directed it. He also wrote the comedy drama about visiting his mum and step dad played by Bobby Ball on the Isle of Wight which was ok too.
Huge fan of Early Doors if you haven't seen that. About life in a local boozer. Proper funny. That's all Craig Cash
What a revelation, I attended a lower non-league County Cup match between two genuine village teams and was well impressed. Entrance £4 for OAPs who were allowed to watch match while supping a pint of beer. Pet dogs ran about freely. The banter between opposing fans was brilliant with no segregated areas. Result 3-0 for the home team which is always wonderful if you see goals (as long as your not on losing side of course). Okay I missed the Championship League games of TV and that was a bummer especially as our English teams won 3-0 against our European friends. However I’m glad I went and plan to go again if I get a chance.
Non league football is alive and kicking and absolutely thriving. Definitely worth putting the tv remote down for when time allows. Some great set ups and crowds all across the non league pyramid, hopefully driven by people falling out of love with the Prem teams and / or the constant steam of football on the TV
We're a bit different - good choices made regarding owners, yes, but it's basically down to Sandbanks, that exclusive peninsula at the end of Poole Bay. Our loudmouth chairman Eddie Mitchell was building a large house there for a Russian millionaire, Max Demin. Eddie finds out Max already invests in Fortuna Dusseldorf, asks him if he fancies investing in us. Max says yes, and the rest is history basically. The next best decision was selling to Bill Foley. Still the funniest awaydays were in Lge 1&2. Its a shame that the PL 'big boys' have never experienced it, taking 3-400 away, knowing virtually all of them too!
I remember doing Bournemouth away it doesn't even feel that long ago (but it probably was), I think we won in front of not that many people and I'm sure afterwards there was some kind of upset with your owner at the time on the pitch and some kind of confrontation (I don't recall the exact details, in the words of Rowley Birkin "I was very very drunk"). Mad the trajectories our respective clubs took after that.
Ah yes that was Eddie on the pitch telling us to go and support Southampton if we weren’t happy! As you can imagine it didn’t go down well. He also swore on 606 when he was on with Chappers. Saying that, he plays a big part in our future. Only went to Saltergate once? Late 97 think. What a day. Dull 1-1 draw but my mate and brother got jumped after the match. Nothing too serious thankfully
I was there that day too, want to say opening day of the season? Sure he came on at half time or something daft. Folan ran them ragged after being crap since he had signed, might have been our cup run season where we beat Wolves, West Ham and Man City edit: more I think about this the more I think I’ve seen us win there 3-0 twice. One definitely season opener, one a few years later which I think was the one where the chairman came onto pitch
Yeah and the mad enigma Alex Mendy I remember being dead excited about. Think he scored in that game then just sort of petered out after that. I don't know if Folan was a previous one. I remember it being quite a happy hunting ground which is a funny thing to say now.
Interview on the beeb from our newish owner. No major promises, no major anything really but ge does come across quite well. 20 m8nutes if you can be bothered. It sounds like Lindsey has a job for life as the fella sounds like a fan boy. Crawley Town can be 'serious club' - Raphael Khalili Casey
I know he didn't succeed with us (which is nothing unusual for managers) but he was pretty good for you first time round. Could you get much better without paying silly money?
Sky doing their best to **** with our away schedule, making 4 of our away games in January and February live. That should shave a fair few off our away followings I would have thought, given three lunch times and a Monday night game. Must be the most we have been on TV in our existence, on every other week. https://www.mkdons.com/news/2025/november/07/sky-sports-26/
For most of our existence the club have lived hand to mouth, with last minute bail outs and no money for players etc. Somehow, we manage to survive and that has been down to people behind the scenes who have made some blinding choices in managers. In other words we've been bloody lucky! Lindsey is a great coach but he only plays one way and the other managers have figured out how to beat that way. I dont want him gone. I want him to evolve his style but keep the basic parts of pass and move and realise that sometimes you need to drop your favourite players. Casey
Apparently there will be some games postponed because of International call-ups. Has anybody got the full list ? Ta
Just as a matter of curiosity but is the young woman still running Newport's forum. I remember learning that as a young child her brother & dad went to the games while she went shopping with mum. One day mum said 'Sorry darling but I have something else to do so you'll have to go with your brother & dad to the match' whereupon she immediately fell in love with the club and became its No 1 supporter. Thereafter mum had to go shopping just by herself. Lovely story and I hope the young lady is still looking after forum and if so could any Newport supporter please give her my . Cheers
Although I’m a passionate England fan I’m watching the Scotland game and was totally impressed with their goal after just 2 minutes. A wonder goal. So impressed that I supporting Scotland for the evening. Denmark are by far the better team but Scotland retain the lead. And that is even though they had their best defender stretchered off and another player injured during warm up. I’d love them to progress to World Cup Finals and get drawn against England where we could give them a thrashing and remove the smiles from their faces. Glory, glory ENGLAND.
Full Time Scotland 4-2 Denmark and the 2nd best team on the night progresses to World Cup Final. Denmark were assisted by a VAR penalty but undone when they had a player sent off. Scotland scored in 98th minute of game when Denmark were all in Scotland's half and Scotland scored a long range goal. Bloody 'ell. Look forward to hopefully meeting them in the Finals. And surely Denmark will win their play-off game and also progress where I expect them to do Okay.
