Whats going wrong for Boro? It must be consistency, last season they were one of the best teams to play against us.

Now being linked with Valerian Ismael and Wagner...not sold on Ismael (wasn't great at West Brom or Watford?) and didn't Wagner fall out with Cantwell at Norwich?

I mean he did the usual with our managers of starting well but the football wasn't very exciting and we soon went on a bad run particularly at home.

And as you know our owners don't hang around.

Maybe more pertinent is that he was sacked from West Brom despite them being quite high I think?

Yes, sometimes hard to tell with your owners being quite trigger happy. We're prob used to "practical" football over the years but think we had a bit of a blend of that and at times decent football this season so would be interesting given where we are in the season. Think West Brom started really well results wise but fell off so maybe they were still relatively high up the league but results were poor.

I think one of his last few games at West Brom they had 27 shots to Peterborough’s 1 or something like that. The sacking was an eye opener for me after seeing that because their performance levels were clearly still there.

His football is direct but I think it’s very effective. Don’t think he’d be a bad appointment at all.

The main problem is we can’t defend.

Other factors are our No.1 Keeper (Dieng) probably won’t play for us again, our first choice defenders(Smith/Fry/Lenaghan) either injured or retired, our Midfielder who makes us tick(McGree) is out of favour and we sold our Top scorer (Latte Lath).

Expecting a rebuild in the summer as our season is all but over.

Must be frustrating as you seemed to be getting there, and now what you describe is things falling apart. Do you think a rebuild will happen?

Sheffield Wed on Boxing Day was where it really started to go wrong.

I’m expecting a few players to leave in the Summer, Dieng, McGree, Lenaghan and Barlaser as they’re out of favour/not good enough, Howson might retire, that gets Carrick/New manager a decent budget to go with also a bit of the Latte Lath money.

If we see you again next season nice local away game for me.

Why and where is Dieng going? Was he good for you?

Don't believe so, Wagner joined the club long after the relationship between the club (well, man who thought he was the club) and Cantwell had soured. I think Cantwell left for Rangers a couple of weeks after Wagner joined, I doubt he had a say.

Good solid keeper but has a couple of Errors in him and hasn’t been seen this side of Christmas.

We were surprised that he left us for you; he was good for us but not play off chasing good, so we didn't think he was up to your level.

Travers looked brilliant Friday mind. Decent enough keeper.

Looking more likely that it will be Ismael now so be interesting. A few players at the club played under him previously.

I wasn't sure what the overlap was but that makes sense in that case.

    Bit of a surprising one?

Always got the impression that he was quite defence first. Not something I associate with this current crop of Rovers players.

Under JDT we very much played out from the back and were quite attacking but left very exposed at the back. Eustace made us much more organised and was more of a combination of being solid defensively but still at times playing out from the back and having a balance between being solid and attacking play. Key to this season has been Tronstad and Travis together in Midfield doing the dirty work (not been able to play as a duo for a couple of months now as 1st Travis then later Tronstad got injured).

Be interesting how Ismael takes it forward now.

Val ball had good and bad times here.

Can't see them getting top 6 with him in charge though

Before anyone says it, I know the source is The Sun, but surely not? The bloke is an absolute fraud.

That said, I’d love to give him a special St Andrews welcome next year…

Fair play to Rooney though, he could easily stick to punditry but he is still trying to make it as a manager in his own right.

Appreciate that means nothing to Birmingham and Blackburn probably don't want him.
