4th vs 3rd at Stadium:MK. Up against our ex manager Karl Robinson. This is Salford episode should be fun to watch when we trounce them.
Our form isn’t great, so the last thing we need it two tough looking away games. I’m skeptical but we will see. Shame Grimsby don’t give many tickets out anymore, few of my mates couldn’t get them so I’ve shifted my ticket too and going to go Crewe instead the week after. Shame as it’s usually a good day
Looking forward to Grimsby away. Doubt we’ll get anything but will enjoy the day. Going early for fish & chips on a cold windy sea front
Cheltenham away looks a much tougher game than a month ago. Regardless of Cheltenham we will need to be massively better than our FA and Virtu cup performances. Paterson is stuck with either a genuinely poor keeper or a totally inexperienced one which doesn’t help.
With Cheltenham home form improving all the time I cannot believe we are odds on favourites to win Monday's game with our away form sketchy at best.
The ticket allocation of 1200 is more than we get at Chesterfield these days isn’t it? We know our capacity isn’t as large as it once was but it should be close to a sell out of around 8500. Seems strange that I have been in the ground with over 22, 000. As for the game, I hope for 3 points but suspect it may end up a Point a piece
Yeah Cheltenham 3/1 looks very tempting. Away at an improving side live on the telly is not a game I’d fancy us in. Particularly with a place in the autos on the table.
We've rode our luck quite a bit in our run (ask Walsall fans), but we also look solid as well. The back 5 is building a really strong relationship, and our midfield three has been outstanding. The concern, as always, is up front. Jake Bickerstaff works his nuts off, but he hasn't looked like scoring at all really. Lee Angol is persona non-grata, so after him we're left with Tom Taylor - who's more of a 10 - on his first loan from Ipswich. If we can sneak an early goal, I see it being a bit like the Alamo with us begging Notts to break us down.
You know what, maybe these are the type of games we need at the moment. Big crowds with proper atmospheres. Next 3 all likely to have a bigger game feel than we’ve had recently
It's the sudden scapegoating of Gordon baffles me. He's probably the one player in our squad who's a solid 7/8 out of 10 every game, very very rarely makes any kind of mistake. I don't know what people are seeing sometimes
Think he’s made a couple of mistakes but no more than others. He’s generally very solid. I don’t get the absolute hate he seems to be getting from some. For me VDC is more inconsistent but is also getting very harsh hate from some quarters. Things need to improve but some of fans need to realise we won’t walk all over teams like we (mostly) did in NL year we won it
VDC has done okay this year, definitely improved on last year. But yesterday, he was absolutely horrendous. I thought he came across quite arrogant in his post match interview at Tranmere other week, hopefully that performance yesterday humbled him a bit and he can keep his feet on the ground and focus on being more consistent for us. Thought Tanton looked bright in his cameo, and Donacien is solid but his hamstrings scare every time he breaks into a sprint!
Did you get the 909 or the 1200 allocation? But yep, right back at you too. Small allocations for both the matches at our place and your place is proper shit. Looking forward to this one though, neither team are great at the back but two of the better teams in the division at the other end of the pitch. Both teams could probably be a bit higher up the table if they were a bit more boring but where's the fun in that? Unclear if we switched system at the weekend to accommodate Turi's inclusion or Sweeney's absence. I think the switch worked well but the usual 4141 seems like it's the one to go with vs Chesterfield. Hopefully McEachran having had a rest will prove to have been a bit of a masterstroke too from Artell.
I wasn’t there yesterday so can’t comment on that game but for me VDC has either been pretty awful or really good & a definite improvement on last year. Good to hear Tanton looked good too, he’s young and in need of playing me s football but I like him.
VDC is proper low league 2 / Non League standard for me - do not like him at RB at all. Hopefully as mentioned Donacien can stay fit as he looks the real deal to me. Gordon is fine, for me he is a bit too negative on the ball but that could be down to instruction. I prefer a Dan Jones type LB who flies up and down the wings and offers real width, Gordon doesn't do that. I don't think we've got any of the positions across the back 4 right in terms of recruitment - and I'm including Dunkley in that. Grimsby away then - tough one. I think we might get a point at best but CM is worrying with only Naylor and Fleck fit. If I were Cook I'd be tempted to go 4-1-4-1: Hemming Donacien Dunkley Mcfadzean Gordon Naylor Markanday Mandeville Fleck Berry Bonis Gives us an extra man in the '8' positions.
We need a win soon, performances on the whole have been there, so not too concerned. Problem I feel we're having at the moment, apart from not taking most of our clearest chances is that when we have tough periods in games, we're conceding in those moments. So long and short of it is, we're not scoring from our opportunities and the opposition seem to score from the minimal chances they do create.
