We won the Vauxhall Conference many moons ago . The actual silverware is different now, it was changed in 2016 (looked it up). It's a lot better looking than the old style.
Fair enough. I remember being excited we'd been promoted to the 'Vauxhall Conference' because that meant our scores would get on TV and in Match magazine. So must have literally changed the first year we were up, so people kept calling it that.
We've appointed Mark Bowen as Director of Football. Been in the game 40 years and was Hughes assistant at Man City. But not sure Cotterill will want to work in that set up, he wasn't happy when Shrewsbury brought in a DoF over his head. Bowen was most recently at Reading and has some 'interesting' long term links/contacts in the game including the likes of Dai Yongge and Kia Joorabchian. Was suspended due to breaching betting rules last year. What could possibly go wrong.
It's an odd one all round, with as you say SC's seeming dislike of this sort of set-up then the suspension apparently still having some weeks to serve this coming season.
We've confirmed we're moving our first team training to north of Bristol, 50 miles away. The idea is we'll attract players from further afield as Yeovil is in the middle of nowhere
Sounds like our new prospective owners are planning on sacking our best asset in Derek Adams. You can only laugh at this point.
Used to love our trips to Morecambe, I hope some familiar (albeit much older) faces will be out and about the friday before our visit. Although knowing this league it will be a Tuesday in January
Yeah it does make sense. At lower levels you don't pay enough to encourage players to move to outpost areas that are a long way from other cities and are often expensive to live in. So it can put off potential players and dramatically narrow the playing pool. As has been said, Barrow have done well with moving their training ground to Manchester after struggling for years to convince players to come to the west of Cumbria. Yeovil isn't as much of an outpost as some places but it is a bit isolated and it does make sense.
This idea has been mooted by some of our fans for a few years now but nothing has ever come of it. I think Dover used to train in London for a while?
well that would be shocking, he’s maybe the most talented manager in the division, isn’t his fault he worked off the scraps even the NL clubs didn’t want
We haven't trained anywhere near Dover for years. Think they've been at K-Sports in Aylesford recently.
There’s not a chance Morecambe will get a manager better than Derek Adams or anyone near his level. There must be something more to that story.
