This is by ethnicity but why would you think the immigrant parts of the ethnic data are doing better than people who are born here?
Did anyone see the video on socials were the copper used his shield to knock the old fella out? (Think it was in Plymouth last night). I'm sure the Stoke fan will think it was fair game because the bloke approached the line giving the fingers being antagonistic but he was no threat to them whatsoever it annoys me when police act like this because they have to be better than the tits on the streets they are dealing with not lower themselves to their standards and inflame tensions.
Net Zero lunacy continues to implode in on itself. Hard to think of a policy more self sabotaging than the energy policy the west has taken since the mid 00's
That's obviously not fair game and as you say it inflames tensions because one of the most damaging narratives that are circling round at the moment is the idea of two tier policing where white protesters get descended on like a tonne of bricks by the police and hammered in the media. While non white protesters such as Muslims involved in the same incidents aren't treated as harshly and are allowed to get away with things to appease their community. I don't agree with that, but it's a narrative that has widespread support and a lot of people believe it, and images like this just help to feed that narrative further.
My answer is yes.... yes, the p*ssed up fool deserved it. The second one was the icing on the cake. They are in riot gear, scumbags have been throwing bricks and fireworks at them. How are they to know this drunk idiot isn't going to cause them harm?
Interesting side point, all those who will be identified and convicted will not pass the EU ETIAS Entry System when it comes in. Nor the US ESTA. So there's going to be a fair few folk who are stopping themselves getting foreign holidays because they wanted to be racist in public
Maybe they'll let him take it in with him. I'm sure big John would love for him to drop that in the shower I don't think that most of those people rioting have ever worried about getting a job
The lad who got his skull stamped on during Manchester Airport incident? In my honest opinion he deserved it as well. 100%. If it was me I would've done the same. Does it make it right though? Absolutely and categorically not. The police need to know better and behave to a better standard they can't slap whoever they want because they feel someone may or may not have 'deserved' it as difficult as a job it is they have to be professional and composed at all times. If you think the unarmed bumbling gimp was a threat to all those officers in full riot gear fair enough but I don't he was more of a danger to himself than anyone else in that state and knocking him out while funny still completely unnecessary.
At what point do these incidents stop being events that feed into the narrative and be evidence that what people are saying is true?
I think every incident that catches someone with something they shouldn't have, especially when it's an illegal weapon, is worth any kind of perceived bias in its use. And yes, your obvious baiting was obvious.
I think you missed the point of my original posts. I wasn't advocating the use of extreme crowd control measures like water cannon or implying that people taking part in riots like this have sacrificed their rights to safety simply by taking part and are therefore fair game for whatever strong arm tactics the police choose to use. That's obviously not true in a civilised country and as we've just discussed, unnecessary use of force and revenge policing ends up causing even more problems further down the line by further enraging people and perpetuating myths about unfair treatment by police. It was just the same the other week when that Muslim guy got kicked in the head by the police in the airport. He thoroughly deserved to be forcibly arrested but by crossing the line and assaulting him after he'd been subdued, he allowed the narrative to be turned on it's head and gave certain elements of the Muslim community and easy excuse to play the police brutality card and start protests off. Turning the perpetrator into a victim in the eyes of a significant misguided minority in an instant. In an age where absolutely everything is recorded, this is why it's so important for the police to resist the temptation to dish out their own 'justice' even if the perpetrator 'deserves' it. My point was more that in certain extreme situations where there's a clear threat to life, such as the hotel attacks recently where rioters were setting fire to hotels full of people and deliberately blocking exits, it may be necessary to employ more extreme and risky forms of riot suppression like water cannon to quickly disperse the crowd and remove the risk to life. Where the risk to life of innocent people will temporarily outweigh the risk of injury to the rioters. But only in very rare, very extreme circumstances.
Is there actually much going on today, or is it giro day for those who aren't stitching mailbags at the moment?
It was supposed to be. So you don’t hate two-tier policing, just when it’s whites that are ‘targeted’ by it? x
All they did was push him back. If he wasn't out of his head he wouldn't have fallen over on the second push. Two fireworks are thrown at them less than 10 seconds afterwards, there looks to be a group who likely outnumber the police. Considering the level of violence the police have had to endure the last few days. Keeping rioters a safe distance away is understandable. He wasn't hit by a baton, he wasn't charged at. The bloke was huge, twice the size of the person to his left and much bigger than the guy who pushed him away. He was a potential threat, considering the situation. There is a big difference to what happened in the airport. That bloke was face down, his hands behind his back, tasers on him. Whether you or I believe either of them deserve it is different to what is justifiable.
Thames, Yorkshire and Northumbrian Water face £168m fines over sewage spills Mmmm, I wonder where the money will come from to pay these fines.
Yawn, lazy point badly made. Stop and search isn't two tier policing. They search based on intel and suspicion using demographics of people most likely to carry. It's almost exclusively used against men for example but I never hear anyone complain about it being a sexist policy.
