€60m up front is a lot of literal cash. The deal can still be amortised but it’s got to be literally paid in one go. It’s completely sensible for Liverpool to try and work on something different to avoid that scenario.
Given the noise it seems if the player wants the move then Sociedad will probably be more willing to work a deal out.

If we manage to keep gilmour and bring hummels in on top, it will feel like we finally have squad depth that could cope with playing in Europe. I don't know much about O'Riley, but Weiffer and Kadioglu are quality players. And of course, Hummels would be insane, he's old but had a great season.
