Upgrades on the versions of those players now, for sure. Not sure he's an upgrade on what Partey was in the 22/23 season. I'm hoping he's a nice medium between what Joringho bought to the table and what Partey bought to the table. Jorginho's legs were already gone when he joined us but his intelligence was so good that he still knew where to stand and work in tandem with Rice. The best version of us under Arteta imo was the run in for 23/24 when it was a Jorginho/Rice tandem. A few years ago, Partey had the dynamism that Jorginho lacked but over the last 12 months it's become evident that his legs are gone too. And he didn't quite have the understanding or bravery that Joginho had off the ball. He'd drop deep a lot on transitions instead of stepping up to a man when needed. To a point that he'd be like a third CB. Zubimendi feels like a more dynamic Jorginho. My fingers are crossed it does get done. Because if he can show that he doesn't need the bodyguard, we could see a different beast with Rice next season. An ascension to a new level where he's chipping in with top top numbers from midfield. He nearly went 10 + 10 for goals and assists last season as it was. A little more freedom going forward? Let's see.
I hope he's wirtz all the money for you guys ps: I'm still gutted, though. Now that HSV is back and I could see him live in the Volkspark, he's gone of course he is...now One thing is for sure, you don't mean me
Spot on with this. These days you can get title winning CL medal holding fullbacks for nothing. They're so cheap you can afford to throw £10mill at them like it was nothing just to get them through the door 10 minutes earlier. Bizarre market.
Yeah I cannot see it unless it is a silly bid. Which I do not think Liverpool are capable of, nor willing to do.
Not signing him saw the manager make the most of a talented young player on the books who otherwise didn't have a clear role at the club. Perfectly happy it didn't materialise. Whether he is a great or bad signing for Arsenal doesn't matter because of the above reason, and the fact it was an instrumental move in Liverpool winning the league at a canter.
Nobody is looking at arsenal last season and saying "you know they need a DM to get them over the line". Everybody can see the problem with Arsenal and that is the frontline.
Apparently Guehi is prepared to run down his contract, and more importantly Palace want to sell. Liverpool, Newcastle and Spurs all in the mix. He would play most for Spurs if starting for England at the next tourney is his main concern. So wouldn't rule them out. Liverpool target Marc Guéhi prepared to see out final year of Crystal Palace contract
All this money being thrown about. You're all gonna look really silly when Sunderland piss league having only spent 20m
We’re not desperate to sell at all, if that was the case we’d have sold him when Newcastle offered £70 Million. Wouldn’t surprise me if we’ve agreed with him to stay another season give the Europa a proper go then go for free with the clubs blessing.
That was a year ago, they're very different scenarios... Turn down £70m then still get £50m, and use some of the money on a highly rated replacement like Diomande. Or turn down £50m and lose him for nothing. Btw Diomande is a player who could also help you in the Europa League. Diomande not only has EL experience, but CL experience too. Why are you even linked with this guy if he's not being lined up as a replacement? BS rumour?
It's largely dependent on Isak and how he feels about our much publicized attempts to procure his signature ,if he feels like the opportunity might not come around again he may signal he wants the move. I think the reason people are saying it's not plausible belies the fact we're constantly and realistically linked with pulling what would be the biggest of moves off. Also I believe that Liverpool have their respective targets and in respect of a striker I think with Salah likely to miss a chunk of the season because of the AFCON any forward we buy will have to have the familiarity of playing in his league and indeed excelling in it to make the transition practically seamless. It certainly wouldn't surprise me if the move gathered real pace in the next few weeks ,I'm just f*cking worried I wont find a sweatshirt baggy enough to hide this hard on this transfer window has given me
