Yeah know the area well, Im from the other side of Liverpool Road, the posh side we used to call it (not one bit posh at all mind you haha) Tell him to avoid The Old Bank (pub on the drive) until he knows a few faces around there haha...its basically the new Eagle and Child (anyone still alive that drank in the Eagle drinks in there), Im sure you know the rep that had. Good Liverpool friendly bar though as the manageress and her family are big reds. I guess your lads a red?
From Dovecot myself. A long time ago mind, lived daan saath for years, all my kids born in Buckinghamshire.
Haven't seen enough of him to rate or not rate him. We need to sell about 4 forwards before we think about signing anyone else, and even then based on the most likely players to leave it would probably be LW that needed the reinforcement rather than AM/RW
Love the bloke tbh but definitely not our level. Cruyff turned Zlatan at the San Siro so he's a legend in my book. Will headbutt his own grandmother to stop a goal, Good pro and feels very West Brom hope he does well. Honestly though you're better off asking Derby fans he's not played for us for a while.
Sad times. The Cruyff turn will Live Forever... Seems a good move for him, Championship is really the peak of his level to be consistently playing at from what we saw, a few years ago now. Always a limited, older school centre back really.
didn't get the best of it when Liverpool had little or no fit CBs and Klopp chose to play Henderson and Fabinho there, when he finally did turn to Phillips he did a decent job. defence wasn't what cost Liverpool better, spell of games like 11 played and 14 points because of similar number of, and lack of, goals scored. do have to wonder but for the assault by Pickford if Liverpool might have gone back to back titles and...... (not saying defence was pivotal but butterfly effect, one event having a ripple effect including psychological "can't without.....")
lower end of the Premier League perhaps, hard to know for sure as he simply didn't get enough playing time at top level never saw him as a CB in a title winning side, but one with lesser ambitions eg Europe or anything much below CL maybe
buy back option is perhaps the best thing could come from the situation. very good player, but when competing right at the top he was going to struggle to get game time ahead of Van Dijk and Konate so this is good on top of £35m to spend can judge if he is worth buying back rather than worry about contract expiring and his state of mind re where he is in the pecking order and (limited) playing time just need adequate back up though, Gomez decent enough but missed 18 league games in a row last season
is always the homegroan aspect, but Elliott was one Slot didn't take to, Jones gets more game time having been the other way around before Last 3 Premier League campaigns (apps, start/sub in brackets) 24/25 Jones 33 (19/14), Elliott 18 (2/16) 23/24 Jones 23 (14/9), Elliott 34 (11/23) 22/23 Jones 18 (12/6), Elliott 32 (18/14) with Wirtz added to Gravenberch, Szoboszlai and Mac is not going to be easy for either to get a lot of game time and as I think beeb mentioned in a piece when Wirtz signed, one of the other three may have to make room unless Wirtz is to play more advanced in false 9 or however they put it re the sale, price seems a bit high for a player not pivotal in plans but good little player should serve them well. good fee for Liverpool even if some of it clause based, as long as it isn't them winning league or Champions League!!
Gyokeres/Sesko saga. There are whispers beginning to come out that Sesko is demanding a release clause in his deal. If I'm to take that at face value, it gives me the massive ick. While I accept our place in the food chain, I don't want our club effectively accepting stepping stone status for a player. We want to beat the clubs these guys want to step up too. Of course, I'll be taking it with a pinch of salt but that's the rumour right now. So, that means we're back to Gyokeres again.... and if you read between the lines and get a vibe from the reports coming out, he appears to be desperate to join. So my logical tactical head still wants Sesko but my irrational heart wants Gyokeres.
Wise move from Sesko tbf probably doesn't want to get trapped at a club who can't get over the line like Saka etc. If it's true of course might just be posturing for a higher wage.
