Ha yeah, as my mate just text me, “that’s one of the relegation spots confirmed then” But right now, who gives a toss. What a turn around, huge congrats to Sunderland
Don't think people should write Sunderland off so early. They've got a fair few young players with Premier League potential IMO and clearly a never give up attitude which will see them fight to the very end. I think they'll end up staying up comfortably. Sent from my Pixel 7 Pro using Tapatalk
That does properly show how far off the pace we were mind, losing 6-0 to the eventual losers of the final. At the same time... I think we got off lightly compared to Sheffield United and Coventry @Adz no sleep before that wedding tomorrow, stay on the beers all the way through and soak it in fella
In a weird way these things just seem to even themselves out. They had a torrid time of it for a long long time, stunk out the Premier League year on year, straight down to League One and then had to scrap it out there for a long while. Think 6 years ago @Addick By Nature will recall beating them in a very similar fashion to how they won today... all got evened out today.
Well I said Sunderland had their Deeney play-off moment in the semi final but clearly that tops it all off for them. Got back into the game and took advantage of poor Sheffield United play. Presume Watson will be going back on loan to Sunderland next season. Congrats to Luke O'Nien and co - nice to see a fresh name in the PL.
We've already poached the Watson kiddie off them, but wouldn't be at all surprised if we offered to loan him back for next season
Anyway, that’s done nothing for the nerves. I’m off to throw up. Hopefully see you all in a day or 2 as a regular Championship poster.
Maybe I'm underestimating the sides coming down but if Sheffield United keep the core of that squad together I could see them walking it next season.
Just have to aim for 40 points. Forest were really good at home after going up and they can make it a difficult place to go in a way Ipswich didn't. As for Sheffield United..their play off/Wembley record is something else.
Surely there is no chance they keep Hamer? Everytime I've seen him he looks far too good for this league.
I mean probably - but who knows! glad sunderland had their last minute Wembley triumph after what happened to them a few years back
Sheff Utd might have won that if Hamer wasn’t such a fat mess. Reckon the only potential interest in him would be from one of three promoted sides and it would be a poor signing for any of them.
It's highly likely that at least one will come back down, with Sunderland very likely to be one of them. Hopefully the experience of the last two seasons will convince this year's promoted clubs to try something different and not just play that boring Guardiola ball that everyone's playing. It just plays into the hands of the established teams and is so easy to play against when you have better players. As the established teams all do. You need to do something different, get in their faces more and make it difficult for them. Give them something to think about. Rather than passing it around the back and allowing the opposition to just sit and wait for you to make a mistake because you're not good enough to do it properly.
