Right now arsenal are struggling for 70 never mind mid 80s. They have totally blown it. Zero pressure applied. Let the week play out and see where we are in each competition. We can't now be any worse than 12 points clear with 9 left. This is the point where seasons are defined. A cup final. A tough cl game and your main rival under massive pressure to win in the league. What a position to be in
ppg projected points: 1 Liverpool 91/92 2 Arsenal 74/75 3 Forest 69 4 Chelsea 66/67 5 City 63/64 6 Brighton 62 7 Newcastle 61/62 8 Bournemouth 59/60 9 Villa 58/59 10 Fulham 57 Chelsea win next weekend would really open things up.
You've never heard the massive excuse for bad planning and shocking lack of trust in players? It's apparently qualifies as something referred to as arsenal level excuse making (according to paddy power anyway) The season where klopp thought it'd be an excellent idea to rely on 3 senior cbs plus Phillips even though 2 of those cbs were immensely injury prone. The season where he lost vvd then matip then gomez and played fabinho and then Henderson at cb until he had absolutely no other option but to play Phillips and Williams and then suddenly lfc went of a winning run to scrape 4th. The legendary alisson goal? The return of thiago after being out for ages due to failure to have surgery after a Richardson assault? None of that ring a bell?
For arsenal to hit 75 they now need 20 points out of 10 games. Yes that's 2ppg but it's also say 6 wins. I really think they will struggle until they have enough players arteta trusts back. I'm thinking about 78 maximum. Certainly 80 would be an achievement. Lfc just need to keep plugging away for 3 or 4 games more. How the 3rd to 7th battle ends up is anyone's guess but forest have put their hands up with some big results recently while villa have just completely sunk and they could be in crisis mode next year as a result.
League is done and dusted now think we should be resting players and prioritising the CL now if we go through tomorrow
This website projects points based on the games remaining for each side. The formatting is annoying as it still ranks them 1st - 20th based on current position but it has the following highlights: Arsenal projected to slip to 3rd with Forest finishing 2nd City finishing 4th Coin toss between Newcastle and Chelsea as to who gets 5th Brighton and Bournemouth finishing 7th and 8th closing out the last two potential European spots Southampton just about beating Derby's record. Premier League
So if we get five places, United or Spurs win the Conference League there could potentially be 11 European Spots...
