One for the Liverpool fans that'll possibly make them happy or unhappy.

The final of the Carabao Cup falls on the weekend of March 15th. There's a round of PL fixtures that weekend so any club that gets to the final of the Carabao will have that league game moved forward to midweek on either the 18th/19th February. Liverpool play Aston Villa.

General consensus is it will be a Newcastle v Liverpool final.

So the bad news is the second mid week off that Liverpool earned by finishing top 8 in the CL could be used to fulfil their moved league fixture from reaching the Carabao Cup final. They've already lost the first mid week off due to the postponed Everton game and they could lose the second one if they reach the final of the Carabao.

That's the bad news. The good news? Win those two league games and it will stop being a six point gap with a game in hand and will turn into at least a 12 point gap having played a fixture more. I know what position I'd rather be in!

Means another 8 fixtures in 26 days (or 9 in 29/30 days if they get through to the FA Cup fifth round).

One last thing, if they do have to play that Villa match on the 19th of February, it'll be Villa away, City away, Newcastle at home in the space of 8 days.

That's just the price of success, should we manage to over turn spurs lead.

We are well spoiled for the past few years and pay for it with having fixture pile ups.

I would have been just fine with dropping out of the carabao cup at the qf stage rather than fit in these semi final ties but "if in it, try to win it" is the clubs motto.

Playing less games in itself doesn't mean we will do better in the league anyway.

He might decide to play the reserves in the cup final anyway

Massive game tomorrow. City win it and we go into the two week league break 9 points clear with a game in hand.

City taking the points also means they're just 3 behind them, and I'm pretty sure they will then end the season above Arsenal.

    No pressure Whiny.

If City beat Arsenal today even the most ridiculous Liverpool fans on here will have to concede the title race is over, as everyone else has known for weeks.

People haven't known it's over for weeks, at all. That's just confirmation bias. We could easily have lost yesterday, and an Arsenal win today would mean a gap of 6 points with us to play a resurgent Everton away from home in a few weeks and Arsenal to still play at Anfield.

I know we have a good lead, but we have some really shit fixtures still to play. Of course it would require Arsenal to take advantage and that for me is why I now believe we have won the league. We will still drop points, but they will drop more. But we're talking fine margins here.

I agree though that a City win today will mean Arsenal winning the league would be unlikely. And as I've said already, I believe it will ultimately result in City finishing above them.

We honestly have mate - title race was over as soon as Saka got injured & likely even before than when City collapsed before Xmas. My best mate is a Liverpool fan, and we’ve all genuinely been rinsing him for weeks/months about his delusional talking down of Liverpool’s chances in our groups chats. As a neutral (who watches a lot of Liverpool games with him) it’s been pretty obvious to me you’d win it since December & the run of City defeats.

Liverpool this season just remind me so much of Conte’s Chelsea - so much more controlled in games than Klopp’s Liverpool. With competitors all flawed you’ve stood out head and shoulders to me as a neutral.

Fair enough. But for me it's not playing things down, it's looking at how things might go and how things have gone in the past, including very recently. We have a different manager but this time last season we topped the table but ended up 3rd, 9 points off City with their asterisk. And ok this season things are different and the gap is more significant, but a couple of shit, unexpected results for us is all it takes to give Arsenal a boost.

But they need to win today to have a realistic chance I'd say.

I understand the anxiety from Liverpool fans after the recent title races where City have done what they do and chased Liverpool down; for me it’s so different this year as City are just so much weaker, unless something very dramatic changes it just isn’t likely (to a neutral).

I think Arsenal should have made it tougher for Liverpool, but a combination of injuries, disciplinary issues and a lack of goals have put them back from last season. Given Liverpool open water to cruise in (from my perspective).

There is no club even close to competing with Liverpool this season. The title is already over!

I don't think City will win today tbh but if you want to talk hypothetical's then yeah if they do title should be wrapped up nicely. I'm worried about Goodison and Etihad trips in next couple weeks both teams will be desperate to stop us we've only won at Goodison once in last ten I believe? Etihad record is rubbish too. But we can afford to drop couple points and still win at a canter providing Arsenal continue to drop points and we win the head to head. We've been top all season be annoying if we don't win.

If Arsenal lose today they'll be on max 89 points winning every game. I maintain 85 points is the cutoff. So they'll still technically be in it but yeah they'd be relying on an almighty Liverpool collapse whilst being perfect.

Liverpool at this point are 10 wins from 86 points. With 15 games left. They can realistically lose 5 games and still win the title.

No mate it isn't done it only takes us to drop points at Goodison and The Etihad and Arsenal win whoever they play next and there's nothing in it. If you want to rule Arsenal out then fair enough but until we go 9/10 points clear I just can't.

They've been out of it for a while but now City are officially out of it. Max they can reach now is 83.
