I think the point is thst there's only 2 games v city per year. If arsenal can't go toe to toe with other clubs in the prem.while playing a couple of really talent kids then something is wrong imo.

Top clubs have luxury of 5 subs to blood these kids and get them ready. Playing seniors instead every week seems a bit of a waste to me anyway.

There will be plenty of times arsenal get a 2 or 3 goal lead and can send on a kid rather than an expensive reserve.

Cos city will be doing so imo.

I think the big difference between Foden and Palmer is that one is a lifelong fan, and one isn't.

Tbf wasn’t Palmer essentially offered a good amount of playing time but decided he wanted to leave anyway?

No incentive for pep to continue developing the youngsters if he's planning to leave at the end of the season

    You'll know more on that.

It could certainly explain palmer wanting to move rather than hanging out for one more year.

He would definitely got a lot of playing time last season, and we probably wouldn't have signed Doku. But I still don't think he would have had the sort of breakout season that he did at Chelsea, so he definitely made the right decision for himself.

Oh for sure, but on the topic of City giving youngsters chances he’d have got his.

And yet again, A Gooner already mentioned you had Trent in your side that toppled City. Lewis looks like he's the first choice RB right now, he's deemed good enough now, not still at a stage of development that requires him to up his levels. Who have Arsenal got that's the level required that they should be starting them instead of other options?

And how did trent get in that side mate?

He was given time by klopp 3 seasons before.

Btw who said start? This was a discussion originally about rating a seasons transfer window based on not getting rid of certain players. As I said maybe arteta sees it as rice can play six while merino and odengaard can be the rest of that partnership. Maybe then nwaneri will be thst.plauer coming through.

Just my perspective on it but you know emry gave saka his start for arsenal at 18 or 19. Let's see who's good enough.

Btw if arsenal don't want Martin obi cos he's too young or not a superstar right now I know a club who will rob him right off them.

It's not like arsenal don't have a great squad with loads of options already. Maybe one or two kids are no harm.

I'd put us as a 8/10. We've strengthened about as well as we can and we needed to, given our Championship squad was essentially the same as the League One promotion winners. We've gone down the Luton route of shopping in the Championship but we've gone for the elite signings from that level rather than just good ones. If we don't survive this year we should in theory be well placed to go back up and crucially, with Hutchinson, Greaves, Delap and Clarke we have assets we can sell on to raise funds if needed.

Tactically they're all pretty good fits as well. Clarke and Szmodics are excellent on the break, which is how we'll score many of our goals this year, and Ogbene is as close of a like-for-like to Burns as possible. Greaves has been brilliant so far and is a great touchline defender who can cover for Davis. Delap is physically superb.

I only have two gripes. The first is a lack of another striker on loan; Al-Hamadi did well yesterday but in the previous two games the levels have dropped when Delap has been subbed.

The second is the long term future of our midfield. Given the importance of the position, I can understand why we've used two loan spots there on players we probably couldn't have attracted permanently. However, if we go down we'll be left with Sam Morsy and Jack Taylor as the only contracted players; ideally would have liked to see a bit more forward planning.

Overall, pretty delighted though. It's going to be tough but I think we'll just about finish the right side of the line.

    In:
    Omari Hutchinson (£18m)
    Jack Clarke (£15m)
    Jacob Greaves (£15m)
    Liam Delap (£15m)
    Dara O'Shea (£12m)
    Sam Szmodics (£9m)
    Chiedozie Ogbene (£8m)
    Aro Muric (£8m)
    Conor Townsend (500k)
    Kalvin Phillips (loan)
Jens Cajuste (loan with obligation to buy if we stay up)
    Ben Johnson (free)

    total spent:

    Outgoings:
    Vaclav Hladky (free)
    Kayden Jackson (free)
    Cameron Humphries (loan)

    5/10

We needed goals so signed 3 attackers. However 2 are for the number 10 position which is probably where our two best performers last year like to play.

Other key positions to fix were CM, where we made 0 signings, and GK, where we signed a no name GK on deadline day, meaning we already had 4 games where a keeper made a mistake that led to a goal in every single game.

We did get a bit of a clear out, and get lot more wages off the books in loans.

Exceptional window and it's been a good few windows since I could say that ,so that's a solid 9/10 for me.

In fact Id confidently say ,procurring the signatures of both Ekitike and Isak were beyond my wildest imagination and believe me my imagination knows no bounds. Those two acquisitions have improved our attack exponentially and made the prospect for any defence facing us frightening.

Wirtz is possibly the type of player we've been missing since Firmino left ,an absolute genius blessed with the most amazing technical ability and will add the flair and invention to the industry we already have.

Frimpong is electric and exactly the type of defender we needed to replace the tw@t who left ,his energy alone could probably power the National Grid.

Kerkez was arguably the best LB in the league last season and I can see that continuing with his time in a red shirt ,really impressed with how he refuses to be beaten for pace and handles tricky opponents.

Leoni can be magnificent if he's afforded the patience ,already he's spoken of in Italy as the future of the Italian National teams defence ,so expecting big things from him in the future.

Marmadashville ,A world class keeper in the mould of Donnaruma should Ali need time out ,yeah happy with that.

Will Wright ,we beat Arsenal to his signature after they believed his signing was a done deal ,not seen much but he's highly thought of so we will see how that pans out.

All in all a remarkable window
