Just seen the Moyes interview. What is he doing?

Referring to Sunderland as 'they', saying he thinks they'll be in a relegation battle after two games, then finally he comes out with this gem while smirking to himself...
Errrrr. In 2013/14 we were bottom of the Premier League at Christmas and finished 11th you moron. Of course things can change! What a way to instill confidence in the team!

Could be one of those ' I don't believe in you so prove me wrong ' theories

Telling a squad of average players that you don't believe in them less than a month after taking over. Seems like a failsafe plan.

That's Moyes though, he's always lowered expectations.

I just think he's being honest and is trying to manage the fans expectations a bit. They are in for a tough season no doubts.

Just think Bony has more to his game. Don't get me wrong I do rate Benteke, and his ability in the air and holding up of play is exceptional, however in other area that counts as a striker (finishing, pace, bringing others into play) Bony is better.

There's not a lot between them tbh but I'd sooner have Bony in my team than Benteke.

I also prefer Bony to Benteke.

If your a defender Benteke is the harder player to come up against

I reckon he's gone about it in totally the wrong way. They've already gone two or three paces backwards with him in charge. The last thing they need is more negativity.

    We'll see.

Christian Benteke - 51 goals in 118 games (a goal every 2.3 games)

Wilfried Bony - 32 goals in 90 games (a goal every 2.8 games)

Given Benteke's two years younger I know who I'd rather have.

Fair enough everyone has their own opinion, just think Benteke's age and him being a better goalscorer edges it for him. (also Bony is fat)

    me three.

    both good players though.

I just love that Bony is like having Wanyama up front. Great at holding up the ball and I've seen him score all sorts of goals.

Tbh though if you're a defender then Andy Carroll is probably one of the toughest players in the league to come up against, doesn't mean he's one of the best.

Think we'll do well to keep outside the bottom three by Christmas now I know what we're dealing with. Such an unbalanced squad, relying far too much on defoe. If he gets injured we have Duncan watmore or a 17 year old to come in as borini is out for three months. The old defend all game and hope to nick a goal tactic looks our only hope of points

Replace Defoe with Rondon and you've got West Brom, albeit with a bit more balance.

Looks like Butland could be out for two months according to reports tonight (currently awaiting another scan early next week)

I'm just about okay with Given, he had a rough time last season although he was also struggling with injuries.

This probably explains the Lee Grant loan signing from Derby yesterday. I think Hughes has lost all faith in Jakob Haugaard (the keeper who conceded ten goals in three games at the back end of last season when both Butland and Given were out).

Haugaard is terrible I can't remember him making a single save last season everything that went on target seemed to go in! Definitely a smart move to bring in another experienced keeper with Given's own injury problems last season and his age. Would hate to be left with Haugaard again.
