Going to play the scousers when they've lost the last 3 in a row should be something to relish if Amorim has the brains to deploy his best XI.
We dont have any midweek games so there is no need to rotate, especially at the back. He should be picking his best XI every week and maybe I am old school, but I think playing the same keeper and centres backs as often as you can is something teams should do.
Lammens, De Ligt and Yoro are all likely to be starters going forward long term, so those 3 should be pkaying every game when fit for sure.
I agree with you.The back 3/5 in Amorin's case should not be constantly changed.Pick your first choice and stick with it.
Plus Heaven, and no ****ing changing of the centre halves in the last 25 minutes for no reason at all.
And he needs to stop playing 2 defenders at the wingbacks, it doesn't work, we're always a lot better when we have a proper winger in at least one of the spots (I wanna see what we look like with proper wingers on both sides won't lie).
He certainly needs to stop playing Dalot, who is shite as a wing back, and whilst Diallo is better he continues to look unhappy in the role. Dorgu looks okay but nowt special, and Mazraoui should be available again soon so might be worth a look. I imagine Martinez has to be back before Christmas, might be an idea to try him at no.6 alongside either Ugarte or Casemiro.
Dorgu is getting into good attacking positions. He's young enough that he can improve his end product. Dalot however has probably peaked.
Mazraoui is the worst out of the lot at the wingback imo, he has so little attacking instinct it's painful, I much prefer him as one of the 3 cbs
all three away, and none easy. Talking of three the rat reckons that is how long it will take for Amorim to become a top manager!! (years) and of course, as you yourself I believe said, RA is yet to win two in a row in the league and somehow you beat Sunderland last game.....!!
I have said it in another thread, but we need to recruit some decent CMs. If we sort that position, Amorim will have most of the XI he needs for his system to work. So if we buy 2 CMs next summer, and the resulta still don't improve, then we know it isn't going to work.
If results don't improve after buying him a new forward line, I wouldn't give him another summer myself. We do need central midfielders but with the players we have, we should be competing for the European places, and certainly finish in the top half. Maybe we will do that, which will be an improvement on last season.
The thing with this system, you need 2 Centre Mids who can work hard. Then you need the depth in case of any injuries to the regulars. The problem you have is then utilising Bruno and Mainoo. The way Ruben plays, there's only 2 positions available for them that Cunha and Mbuemo have been bought for. You need 2 Centre Mids with legs because every other tea in the Prem are likely to play with 3 mids with the exception of Palace and Nuno (if adopts that approach at West Ham).
All true, but looking beyond that it means playing a back 5 every game even before the wingbacks drop into the fullback slots. It's inherently negative, and I hate it, and that's before looking at the clear evidence that it doesn't actually work.
It does appear negative. If he gets the same play like at Sporting, it'll be exciting but time will tell. If he gets the time Rat has suggested. If he gets the type of Centre Mids required, who he wants and it doesn't work, then tried and failed. *approach
6 from 3 so far We really need to go on a run now, the fixtures, on paper at least, are kind enough to us up until the middle of January and we really need to be in the top 4/5 by that point imo. Can't be seeing another Brentford esque performance in the next few games or it'll just feel like one step forwards 2 back again.
Yeah we have a really nice run of "winnable" games, so an unbeaten run of some sort would be nice, with a decent number of wins to show some sort of progress.
