Jatta is the best forward we have had in years in terms of completeness. Macca was a great finisher, worked really hard. Great goal scorer. Completely deserves his chance in the championship. I just think Jatta is physically and athletically able to play at a higher level than Macca. He won't contribute huge amounts in build up but that's not really where you want him. You want him running at defenders or in behind or in the box.
All of our players are world class in L1. That is why we are doing so crap in L2. It’s like trying to drive an Aston Martin through a rural muddy road.
The biggest thing that holds the big man back is he doesn't impose himself on defenders, he doesn't make enough use of his size. This stops him being effective at build up That for me makes him a League One level forward. However I totally agree far more rounded than Langstaff who just scored goals. He's quicker and more mobile than he looks, obviously strong enough to be a handful, good movement and decent anticipation, can finish, scores different types of goals, surprisingly composed and skilful for such a big unit. I heard from an albeit unreliable source that Port Vale were/are very keen on him and I'm not surprised.
Yep beat me to it. MK aren't trying to drive an Aston Martin through a muddy field, they're trying to drive an expensive 4x4 with all the modern bells and whistles through a muddy field. Should be a doddle but the problem is the guy driving has only ever driven on the motorway and doesn't even know how to switch the radio on let alone what to do when he's stuck in the mud.
Firstly, well done Barnet. Aggressive, powerful but also played with pace and skill. On to Grimsby and well , I don’t know were to start. Awful from start to finish. One dribbling shot on target after 93mins says it all. Couldn’t pass, run,or challenge effectively at any stage. When we got the ball we invariably hoofed it to the opposition. We have built a squad to pass and move at pace. Once we give it the welly we are beaten. Bad day at the office and a big reaction is required. Even the connecting train home was delayed and we got back accompanied by a biblical storm!
No particular offence to Port Vale, but when Jatta goes it’ll be to a bigger club/higher level than them. Will probably be abroad I think, believe we turned down offers from the Portuguese top flight in the summer. Having that option on his deal has been a real bonus for us and the only reason we’ve been able to keep him you’d imagine. As you say I think good League One is his level at the minute probably, but the raw ingredients are good enough that someone higher will take a risk on him and think they can tidy his hold up play up.
Listened to your managers post match interview. Seems running about more should sort out the issues....I think you look unprepared yesterday and your league cup game took priority. Justin Amazular was average at best in national league so respect to his agent.
Depends if I decide to go or not, been to the last 3 we've lost, I blame the bad form on closing that fantastic little chippy
Amaluzor is probably 4th, 5th or even 6th choice when we've got everyone fit and available in all fairness, definite bench player brought in to fill in the pace/physicality gaps we had in our squad last season. Has done alright at times so far but been used more than we'd have liked. Not sure why he started yesterday when Burns was available though. You're right about us being unprepared though, difficult to juggle these midweek cup games alongside the league when your opponents are off. Hopefully we field a weak side in the tinpot trophy this week.
I'm not saying we looked remotely good! Just showed a bit more interest in moving ball and feet quickly, but it still wasn't great. I think it also helped Bromley had a genuine go and we had a bit more space
I wasn’t at the Walsall game. From what I’ve watched and read, while the hosts deserved their win, a mix of good finishing, abject defending and the odd rub of the green going Walsall’s way got it to 4-2. Both sides had roughly the same number of goal attempts, but the fact that the Saddlers got half of them on target whereas Rovers only managed a quarter was probably the main difference.
Nooooo let them stay down there !! It's nice not having to play them this season. Long may that continue.
