We’ve been cashless for two seasons. It’s the clubs loss as most people drink before and after the game now instead. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
These last 18 months I've been pretty much cashless anyway. 2 years ago I'd have been embarrassed to use my debit card for something that only costs a quid (or even less) but Covid has me using it all the time for everything except the local chippy because they won't accept it.
New prices for new season ticket holders £622-830. £830 has no concessions. Mine was £433 with my 19/20 rebate but have no doubts they'll be wanting £622 minimum off me next summer, an increase of £189. **** outta here.
Oh God, here we go. A week before our first game in 17 months we've decided to join the digital ticket only brigade. This is not going to end well!
There is a 99% chance this ends with the software malfunctioning and nobody being able to get into the ground.
Ours went like clockwork yesterday, I got there 45 minutes before k.o. and pretty much went straight in, no queues and no dramas, hopefully yours will be the same.
I don't see how the digital smartphone ticket can work for everyone.... yet There must be a few thousand match goers still up our way of a certain age who don't have smartphones, so it would be chaos if NUFC introduced this. Not that Cashley would invest in the technology to replace all turnstile season ticket card feeders. How do those without smartphones get in?
At Old Trafford they can print out the QR code and present it at the ground, I don't know if they can still present it at the turnstile or have to go elsewhere though. Not sure what you'd do if you have neither a phone nor a printer either.
My old man would have would crumble at the turnstile if we introduce this. He's got a smartphone, but can only just about send a text message on it
They let some people just go straight in on Saturday and have sent some a card as used to happen but I guess eventually everyone will have to “learn and be up to speed” with the new technology.
It's the same QR code for the season, so he just needs to take a screenprint then he can just open it from his pics gallery, no need to open the app.
We can print them on Saturday as a one off but after that they haven't told anyone. Great thing to announce on the eve of a new season. TBH even printing it off is a ballache. We have perfectly good, credit card-like season tickets which we automatically scan at the turnstile already. We also scan them when buying food/drink etc. to earn loyalty points. Why they feel the need to make it so much harder/riskier to get in is beyond me. There are literally thousands of fans without smartphones and printers so it's only going to end in tears. Classic case of trying to fix something that isn't broken for absolutely no reason.
Apparently it's a Premier League directive. A quick search shows that liverpool, Everton, West Ham, Palace, United and Spurs have all gone digital this season. I agree with you though, it seems like change for the sake of it.
Yeah the club have trotted out the 'in keeping with Premier League guidelines' quote but it's utter bollocks. Plenty of clubs (e.g. Everton) are issuing season ticket cards this season. Even our away matches at Chelsea and West Ham have standard paper tickets, so it's just an out-and-out lie.
