Crossposted from our club forum... I think the rest of September, October and November are going be crucial to do well in if we're gonna do anything this season. Home games in bold Bromley 5th Cheltenham 23rd Barnet 18th Notts County 10th Barrow 19th Salford 8th Shrewsbury 21st Harrogate 15th Crewe 6th Newport 22nd Accrington 24th After what has been a pretty tough set of fixtures to start, plus injuries etc, if we can be in that top 7 by December and FA Cup 1st Round time, it gives us something to fight for and hold on to as we go into the second half of the season. If we struggle for consistency and keep drawing games we should win, we'll know by December to expect a season of consolidation at best I'm optimistic it'll be the former.
We have been here at this stage of the season every year for the last few years so we are definitely not getting carried away.
Well season finally started for us on Saturday...... 13th Salford (H) 20th Harrogate (A) 27th MK Dons (H) Feeling cautiously optimistic following recent changes to the squad.
I think we will get 6 points from this. I fancy us to get a win against MK, lose at Bromley and beat Newport at home. We haven't become a bad team overnight - Crewe was a makeshift 11, Walsall are a team who we just cannot beat.
I think we'll be looking for a reaction against MK, but so will they, they lost their last couple haven't they. I think we'll be playing with a bit more fire though. We have to really.
Markanday far and away biggest so far. Needs to stamp some authority on games instead of just coasting through them, Walsall Saturday prime example looked like he was hiding a lot of the time. He’s probably top 3 talent wise in the division, but lacks the personality of say a Dobra to really grab a game by the scruff of its neck and be the main man. Cook needs to unlock that in him
Somethings not quite right with Markanday is it. Maybe it is confidence. I’m confident Cook is right manager to help him find it, we could just do with it happening quickly!
It wouldn't be the first time a player has not hit the heights of the previous loan spell. Happened to us with John-Joe O'Toole and Rory Gaffney, amongst many others ive happily forgotten about.
Still on track - with the first two results reversed and the team/squad gelling into a Neil Harris Team . Stuck in the Osmond End, all the action was miles away but the away fans vibe was as good as I've experienced. Gutted but philosophical about the result. The performance was what we were promised. Adam Mayor is a proper winger that No 9s dream of playing with. Awaiting news on retrospective action for off the ball clatterings and tunnel confrontations. Second game in, I said to a mate on the Habbin that we won't be bullied this season. I hadn't expected us to do so much bullying. Just need to finish September with two draws (at full-time) and a win for bullishness to be maintained. Appere will be a miss but only if Lavery and/or Kuassi end up in the treatment room.
I want to forget it as much as possible but I wouldn’t mind a 45 mins like that first half against Mansfield. We’d blow most teams away
Whilst a last minute defeat to Salford was disappointing 9 points from 12 was a very good return. Onwards to October with a good chance of being top on Saturday
1 point up on my predictions, which is a good thing I suppose. Some tough ones in there, so the next three are where we find out if we're going to plod along in mid table or make a stab at finding anything vaguely like our ceiling.
